Hunting in a winter wonderland
What a great day to be in the woods..............I have hunted in every non disaster weather condition known to man.........and nothing even comes close to the magic of being in the woods on a day like this. The sights, sounds and "feel" of a great winter huntis an amazing experience.
Long walk in the dry bare pasture................1 foot of snow andheavy gear doesn't make it any shorter []

Great little staging area (was better before the crops got cycled out of the field).............tough to hunt because not many trees to climb in it so you have to stay near the edges but the deer like to buzz through this brush and the edges hold a few apple trees so sometimes it can be a great transition area off the hardwoods edge.
Great view though.

Atlas, have you found, like me, that when it looks like that the first day, deer movement is severly restricted? I was out Wednesday and my spot looked like that ... all I saw were turkeys ...

Absolutely...............I always hope thatas the snow piles up they will get anxious and start moving in anticipation of a tough search for food that night...........rarely does that ever happen.......to me anyways. The immense pressure these deer have faced keeps them snug in their beds until well after dark this time of year.........not that I blame them
