Match your camo or not?
When wearing or buying your camo, do you prefer to have matching tops and bottoms or different patterns? Matching looks good toOUR eye, but I would assume 2 different patterns would break you up even more?
After seeing it in action I'm convinced on the ASAT and Predator camo and was thinking of getting top stuff in one and bottom stuff in another........... and then a good old fashioned Treebark hat.:D |
RE: Match your camo or not?
I almost always match, but not intentionally. All of what I have is fairly new so it all tends to look alike. I would love to get some of the Predator, but with my college budget, can't afford it!!

RE: Match your camo or not?
Whatever is warm (or cool, weather pending) & quiet. What it "looks" like doesn't matter to me.
|
RE: Match your camo or not?
Thats a good question! I've always tried to match myself but the more I think about it, it probably isn't a bad idea to mix it up a little. It may then make you look like two little objects instead of one bigger object. Good question!

RE: Match your camo or not?
I put on whatever is clean and in my hunting closet in the basement. Most of the time it doesn't match. Come to think of it besides BDU's I've never purchased a matching set of camo. Most of the time it doesn't come in my size anyway. I just buy what fits and go hunt.

RE: Match your camo or not?
someone here brought it up before about NOT matching...and how you are going to create a very unnatural striaght line where the 2 patterns clash...kinda really does make sense..no matter how you see camo...exspecially mixing light/dark camo or traditional camo/open space camo
but, when it comes to deer hunting, movement is key IMO. camo still plays a rule, but i cant say ive had deer nail me when i wasnt moving...even when im not in camo, or when im in orange... someone forgot to tell my buck that he should have never died death from a bowhunter wearing orange this year...it was opening day of grouse season and i was NOT about to be sprayed by a grouse hunter..i left my vest and hat on all morning and didnt have to. think all i had to do was display 100 inches...i dont pay attention to that law because i generally wear it, or display my vest and hat knowing im legal.. then again, anything orange i own is camo orange...i put some pics in black and white and pencil drawings from this year while playing with a photo program...amamzing how the orange camo completely disappeared into my regular camo AND the forest floor when i did that... |
RE: Match your camo or not?
It is completely random whether I match. Mostly I don't.
|
RE: Match your camo or not?
Far to much emphasis is placed on matching your pants and jacket.I am guilty of that almost to the point of obsession,I don't think I will ever catch up with Gary/Germ though.LOL
There are all kind of straight lines in nature. If you have a great pattern that breaks your outline I see no problem with mixing them up. Predator,ASAT,Enigma are my favorites.I have had excellent experiences with all of them almost to the point of being unfair.Almost! |
RE: Match your camo or not?
Blaze Orange and Mossy Oak were made for each other baby!!!!!! :D

RE: Match your camo or not?
I used to wear mismatched stuff.....and still do in the early season. Once eaf drop occurs....and I'm more apt to be silouhetted......I wear one open pattern.
In the early season.....with all the foliage on the trees....I don't think it matters. Also....if I weren't bowhunting.....and 60-100+ yds away from my prey.....I wouldn't worry about it too much. |

ORIGINAL: GMMAT Also....if I weren't bowhunting.....and 60-100+ yds away from my prey.....I wouldn't worry about it too much. Me either............since that's only happened to me once in 20 years I guess it doesn't matter though. That one at 65 yards didn't know I was there any more then the one I shot at 5 yards this year.........and the one in the pic I shot from the ground at 20 yards. |
RE: Match your camo or not?
i match mine, but mostly because of coincidence... just so happens that every time i've been out getting camo stuff that Realtree AP has been the stuff on sale... so, while i know it doesn't ~really~ matter, I have this neurotic thing about matching my clothing... weird i know, but if I don't I think about it all day... so that is a small part of it as well...

RE: Match your camo or not?
Enigma for me...this stuff is just too good.:)
|
RE: Match your camo or not?
I buy and wear whatever is cheap and warm. So no most of the time I dont match.
|
RE: Match your Cami or not?
no i don't match i get what ever is a good deal and if i like the material and fit . Earlier in the season i like pants with lots of pockets to put things . later in the season i match
because i wear a one piece suit |

RE: Match your camo or not?
It doesnt matter to me at all. Ill look like a salvation army hunter most of the time. All I want is something to break up my pattern. I might wear real wood with army surpuls camo. It dosnt matter to me at all.

RE: Match your camo or not?
I usually match because I put my ASAT 3d leafy suit over just about everything. Now I may not match underneath, but usually have the ASAT over both top and bottom.

RE: Match your camo or not?
I've got boxes and bins of hunting clothes, and I there's not a single set of camo that actually matches.
I destroy hunting clothing at an alarming rate, so I keep replacing this, replacing that...and wind up with a mishmash of random colors and patterns. Nothing matches. Even with all the different camo going on, I still know I look great. Sometimes, I even have to take a last little peek in the mirror at myself before I leave the car. |

RE: Match your camo or not?
I always used to where different top and bottoms, but since I started useing predator and treeline intrusion from graywolf woolens I where the same top and bottom because it breaks you up so well..Walt

RE: Match your camo or not?
I dont match usually.
|
RE: Match your camo or not?

RE: Match your camo or not?
LMAO.. last nights hunt i had my new white camo bottoms on over my xtra brown bibs.. ;)I was kneeling in the snow set up in a natural blind with fir sapling bows and buck brush all around me.
|
RE: Match your camo or not?
Heck i don`t even know if i have any camo that match`s anymore:eek:?
The way i look at it. If the Deer don`t care why should I ?:D |
RE: Match your camo or not?
doesnt matter to me my shirt is mossy oak pants are realtree hard woods and jaket is real tree
|
RE: Match your camo or not?
None of mine match. I have mossey oak bottoms and real tree top and if it real cold i wear my green wool jacket and green insulated carhart bibs and sit in a pine tree. I think your background helps more than your camo.
|
RE: Match your camo or not?
I have an obsession with not matching. Different tops and bottoms at least break the human form into two sections as things get to a distance that patterns "blob out", but in the end it's motion that's going to get you busted and not the pattern of camo you're wearing.
