#91

Hey PT....I think Fran has a point. "Supporting" all hunters.....and rooting for their success.....are two different things (IMO).
I support anyone hunting around me (or ANYWHERE)....as long as they're legal and ethical. Now.....do I hope the guys doing it legally and ethically all take bucks from the same herd I'm hunting?
Honestly? Nope.
Is this "competition"? Sure. Is this way of thinking "wrong"? I suppose some will see it that way. Around here....I don't "think" there's a "lot" of good bucks to go around (if EVERYONE were successful in taking their limit. I don't wish any ill will on any fellow hunter....but I'd be lying if I said I hoped they all were successful in filling their tags.
Weapon of choice has no bearing in my way of thought, though.

But this year the tables were turned ... they scored .... just not as well as I did ..... I hunt all seasons though and I also am not a part of a BBM program, so what others take will not stop me from filling my freezer ....... as with everything else .... it's all subjective

Well Congratulations BHF - you're officially the first guy in the history of huntingnet who has posted detailed directions totheir owngood stand site. I can honestly say that you're one of the very tiny minority who puts others before himself.
Props to you, man.

Ask TFox when his buddy needed a place to hunt in KY, I sent him the GPS coordinates where i hunted. Another buddy in MI wanted to hunt in KY, I sent him all the info I had, including GPS coordinates.
Reading through this today, to me it seems to be more about not having access to land of your own.
So a guy like me has no say in "Hey I support all hunters" as I sit in my paradise
Correct? If I was in your shoes my views my be differnent.
Since I tell those to hunt my land to "go pound sand" I am rooting against them sort off in a differnet way, is this your point?

Funny how the guys posting in the beginning of this thread have all the sudden clammed up - now that we're asking for directions to their stand sites. LOL
What happened to the team player attitude?
To me it looks like "I root for everyone else to do well, just so long as they're not eating my lunch."
Jeff - I don't really discriminate between gun or bow hunters either. It's not that I hope that just thegunners eat their tags... It's more that I hope everyone hunting the same herd as me (gun or bow) is unsuccessful. It stings a little less when it's a dedicated bowhunter, b/c I can at least appreciate his success. But, it really stings when you hear about some one-day-wonder gun hunter going onto one of my go-to farms for an hour on opening day andlucking intoa big buck running for its lifeoff a deer drive.

I just can't get it together on my end! I hoping for next year if the offer still stands! So I think I'm part of a bigger majority than you know of or care to see! Just my opinion!

...and those guys were your FRIENDS. You'd have to be a major-league jerk not to help out a buddy in need of a good place to hunt. I'm sure there are a few guys reading this right now who know that I'm not afraid to sharequality info with a homeboy in need.
We're talking about the rest of the world... Not your friends/family. Anyone would help out a friend.

I want no outside pressure disrupting my hunts.
There are +/- to owning land.

Again, people don't have to invite the worldto their hunting spots to justify supporting gun hunters. That'snot even a rational argument. My comments about bowhunters cooking meth makes more sense.

Yes you do, Lanse. If you are SINCERELY hoping and wanting everyone around you to enjoy as much success as possible - you should be doing everything possible to help them score. Even if that means opening up your own land to people you've never even met.
You just can't go off saying "I hope everybody does well" in one breath- andthen you turn around andwallpaperyour property with POSTED signs, hording the deer into your private sanctuary forjust yourself and your buddies' enjoyment-without SOME level of hypocrisy.
I'm just saying - lots of you guys are SAYING one thing, but DOING another. That's all.
