antlers dropping

Was on deer stand last night and saw a nice 10 pt cross my filed at about 60 yds with both sets antlers. 30 minutes later it came back into the filed at maybe 50 yds, but this time had only 1 antler. Wasn't sure it was same deer, so got down early and followed tracks in snow and sure enough it was the same deer. I found the antler and it'll look nice in my collection. Taz

Wow, that seems kind of early to find a shed. The earliest I ever found one was the second week of January and have jumped deer with antlers still as late as March. That is neat how you seen the buck before and then followed the tracks to where it dropped

Crazy eh? The earliest I have pictures of one that shed was Dec 8th.

With the snow here in WI and the clder temps, we have to be careful during the late bow hunt when we shoot does.....look really close.

Roadkill, last year during blackpowder season here(late Nov-early Dec), my neighbor shot a nice 8 pt, and when he went to drag it away, he pulled off 1 antler. Taz

I put down a beautiful 2.5 year old eight point (approx 20" wide) with a ML last year that had a broken leg in late Dec. When it fell down a hill toward me both sides came off. The year before my brother shot a 10 about the same time of year. We recovered it and both sides came off in our hands. That deer was not wounded however.

Come to think of it several years ago Iputdownanother winged little eight point with a ML in december. That guy lost one of his antlers when I shot. That makes three that I know of.Ithappens earlierwhen they are wounded and stressed.
