I was just wondering whats the longest shot youve taken at a live animal?

42 Yards with my bow and that is about my max. 250 with my rifle.

46 yards and nailed a 10pt. However that may have been my luckiest moment. Since then I have missed an 8pt at about 20 yards.

I shot two bucks at 42 yards, one at 41 yards. I've only missed one time beyond 35 yards and that miss was because I held low at a nervous 41 yard buck. I hit exactly where I was aiming, right under his brisket/chest behind the leg. I also have take a doe at 41 yards, Rick James was watching over my shoulder. Other than that held low miss, I've never missed an animal beyond 35 yards. I have however missed under 20.[8D]

32 yards. I have had lots of opportunities at slightly more than that which I have passed on. I do serious target competition out to 65 m (~72 yards) but like to get close for the live stuff.

40 yards two times. Got a buck and a doe at this range.

When I was a young lad, I once took a 75 yard shot(estimate). It was the most unethical thing I have done in my hunting career. It was a monster buck and I was hungry for success. The result was lousy but there was a silver lining. I hit the deer perfectly behind shoulder but the arrow must have hit a bone. The arrow did not penetrate. When I found the arrow, there wasn't even blood on the blades on my mechanical head. The good part of the story was the buck survived and I got to watch him for 2 more years until he was hit by a car on the highway. In my more experienced years, I would not shoot over 30 yards.

35 yards. Hit 10" too far back an hour before dark. Backed out, came back the next morning around 11 am. Jumped him out of his bed and watched him stagger away with his sides hanging out. Found him the next morning after that 75 yards from where we jumped him the day before. Lost the meat because it was 75 degrees and he'd been dead for a while.

Got a nice mount, but I wish I'd made a better shot. 35 yards is not out of my range, but I really rushed the shot. It was the first (and only) time I'd shot at a big buck with my bow, and I had more time than I realized. Good learning experience. Now I try to keep them to 20 yards or less.

You can see the exit wound near the stomach. Entrance wound was in the same spot on the other side. I can't believe it took him 2 days to die. Tough animal.

52 yards with a bow.....this is with years of practice and a 90 lb bow......well over 300 yards with a rifle...again with years of practice/instruction

doe at 63 yards, very unethical shot that should not of ever happened! hit the deer in the lungs was down inside of 50 yds! but dont assume skill when at that distance its all luck!

60 yard double lung shot on this caribou. I was practicing a lot at +50 before this hunt, as I was told a shot over 40 was expected. He was 60 yards downwind, arrow hit it's mark, and he piled up 40 yards away. I normally wouldn't shoot over 40 at any other big game animal.

My brothers wife gut shot a small buck one evening. The next day i snuck up with in about 60 yards of it in a open field and it jumped up and started to run away. I figured what the hell and I launched an arrow at it with my recurve, the arrow went right over its back missing him by an inch! I was happy as heck to be that close at that range!Otherwise in normal hunting conditions 20 yards 2 different times with my recurve, both times I hit both lungs and heart! 20 to 25 yards is my limit, really depends on how good i'm shooting at the time. Sometimes its even less then that.

52 yards this year on a doe. Quick clean kill. Would have never thought about it if i had not been practicing out to 60. I personally dont mind a far shot like that as long as i feel confident with it. If there is any doubt be it 10 yards or 60 then i will not take the shot.

43 yards - heart shot and went less than 15 yards. Double lunged a doe at 42 as well. Everything else was under 30 yards.

45 yards. The closest was 7 measuredFEET on a nice buck while hiding beside a 4 inch oak tree in the middle of a horse pasture.

Estimating mine around 27 yrds, she ducked and it hit a little high but no tracking was envolved. Not sure that I had any opps much over that?

Shot one at 66 yards years ago, knew the yardage, and he had his head down eating beans, Back then we shot from 80 yards every day in the yard weather permitting. Cant say I would have taken that shot today, not that Im any less of a shooter, just that over the years I have see enough to know that he only needed to take one step to turn a heart shot into a gut shot!

The longest shots I ever made are with a recurves. Two at 60 yards and one at 50 + yards. All bucks and made good killing shots. With a compound one elk at 40 yards and a dozen are so deer at 30 + yards

I shot my 3rd deer with a bow at 76 yards on my bushnell laser rangefinder withmy old glory,I know most of you wouldnt take that shat but I practice from all incriments out to 100 yards on a very regular basis and feel comfortable doing that,At an outdoor 3d turney last year I hit a 6 inch baloon at 147 yards with my bowtech old glory,that was my second arrow,my first arrow hit 4 inches to the right but perfect up and down,the contest was 5 arrows to win the pot and needless to say I made some money there.If you want to shoot a deer at 40 yards,practice from 70,if you want to shoot a deer from 20 yards dont practice and hope you hit something.

Refuse to shoot over 30. I don't care if the Hansen buck was standing out there. I set my stands for 30 max. The hunt me is getting them close, the killing part is easy.
