okay, family or hunting?

im in a big debate here, im currently 16years old. My mother is an anti hunter, greenpeace sticker on her volvo and all...But my late grandfather, (on my mothers side strangely enough) taught me all i know about the way of hunting, and i love the misty mornings when the sun rises, the sticks crunching, the patches of white, known only by a hunter....I got my first deer with a gun and my first with a bow(the bow was a sikka, dont ask i dont feel like explaining)and i kept the broadhead and .30/06 casing in a special place in my room (a little box with a buck enscribed on it) my mom found it and threw it out...She knew it was important too me, yet she did it anyways.....I was looking for photos of my grandfather with some game animal pics..also thrown out and while i was looking i found oodles of my hunting magazines that (never came), the last straw was seeing that she threw my bow case out of my room down the stairs, landing face down, and a broadhead got my string, serrated a few strands..ive tried talking to her..she wont, it always ends up me in my room after blurring obscenitys....what would you do? I love my mom but i think im moving ot grandmas, i dont deserve to be treated like garbage because i love the outdoors and the game that make it their home.,... shes called me evrything from a savage to a murderer... thanks all for listening i know i havn't posted in a long time.but i have too give her credit here..she lets me hunt, she at least dosn't keep me cooped up for me and my buddysanuual bowhuntin trip an nov 15 buck bagin gun season

sticky situation you are in there.... i would sit down and have a talk with her.. explain how much it means to you..not just to kill an animal...but to experience the whole outdoors process.....that is the best part in my opinion...i dont see why she would throw out your keepsakes..thats going a little bit far i would think...try to reason with her...explain the goodpoints of hunting..heck- if you have to, take her outdoors and show her there is more to the hunt than the kill.....it is a great place to relax and clear yor mind...hope this helps!

Wow! ....Very sorry to hear about your situation. Not sure exactly what you can do, considering you've tried to talk it out already. Is there an older person, nearer her age...that she likes, that is ALSO an outdoors person? My wife said the she would even talk to her for you. If interested just let me know.... [email protected] is my e-mail.

I hope that you can get your situation resolved to some kind of agreement soon...for both of your sakes.

Best of luck!

the way i see it you got 3 options...put up with her crap for a few more years unless you plan to live with her forever....move to your grandmas...or stop hunting until you move out...you can continue to shoot and all just dont kill anything and she shouldnt have a problem...thats a tough situation i duno what id do...good luck...i also keep my casings and even the used liscense from does ive taken..they are all on a shelf with the lisense i used and the casing...and the buck antlers are on the wall with the shell casing on the shelf when the years over the liscense will go behing the shell also....people say im wierd..i got tails and feathers and feet ect up there too....i dont care..i see them as more of a trophy than the bowling patches and trophy from bowling when i bowled...

As soon as I read the words "Green Peace and Volvo" in the same sentence you was in trouble.

Sounds to me like if your Mom has been brain washed.

If it was me then look out Grandma here I come.

Frame this and give it to her for Valentines day.

Tough situation. If you live near Ganny.... maybe ask to store your treasures there. You're not going to change Mom. You're fortunate she allows you to hunt. Bite the tongue... if she persist in clandestine clean outs of your room, in a nice voice tell her every time she does... you think she's going to loose a bra or something. Tell her she ruined your bow and now you require a new one. Take her to court. Does she eat meat? IF she does she's contributing to "Murder" also. Tell her she needs family councelling.

Tell her your going to take up using drugs if you aren't allowed to hunt. That might make her relize that she should appreciate that you spend your time in the woods and not getting in trouble.

LOL davidmil....i wondered where that pic went to ever since the debate about it on a different thread.

Deerhntr1213, lonebowman gave some pretty sound advise. i might add next garbage day take your mom's hummel collection, put it in a box and set it next to the curb....hehehe. i hope you realize i was just kidding but it would make a pretty good point. ooooo i have a better one, the next time your mom's volvo is in the driveway put a sign "for sale $250" in the window. it'll be gone before she knows what hit her. just kidding again but man that would be halarious.
