Amount of blood?

How much blood does an adult buck have? (rough dressed weight at 180-200 lbs). I know its not bow related as I shot him with the gun but thought you guys might know more about this.

RE: Amount of blood?

From everything I've ever read deer carry about the same amount as a similar weight human. That would be around 8-9 pints of blood.

RE: Amount of blood?

Deer have around 8 pints of blood or 1 gallon. They must bleed out around 2.5 pints to fall into shock (bleed to death). That is a lot of blood on the ground! When I lay a blood line for my WireHaired Dachshund to track, I lay 10 oz of blood. I can actually lay a trail for a half mile with this.

robs right on. the majority of your blood loss is all internal. An average 60 yard blood trail is probably only about 20 oz of blood.
