I was tagged out not even two hours into opening day for shotgun. I had the pleasure of helping everyone else that got one help drag their deer back. I even got to witness someone use a butt plug!

I really paid attention to entry/exit routes more than ever. Whether it mattered or not I have no idea, but I was conscious of it all the time.

Didn't overhunt a stand all season no matter how tempting it was at times.

Passed on a couple opportunities at shooter bucks (for me) because I wasnt' 100% sure on them. 90% sure I could have buried them, but it just didnt' feel right so I didn't push the shot.

Set my standards for the buck I was looking for and stuck to it. Passed up a lot of bucks that in years past I wouldn't have given a second thought about shooting. The book is still out on whether or not I'm ok with that yet.

Didn't crap on my grunt tube this year.

Remembered my quiver with my arrows everytime I went out.

Didnt' hurt myself.

I finally was able to get my son to hunt more, and he really enjoyed it. We could hunt only weekends, since he has since moved. Not sure what we are going to do next year since he will be a non-resident. Hope he applies for a non-resident tag, I'll help pay for the license and permit. Oh heck, I'll pay all of it, its worth it to me.

It took me all season to give up on where the stands were set up - and set up where I thought the deer might come through - but when I finally made the decision to hunt from the ground on an otherwise "hard to hunt" escape route - I was able to tag a great buck that I'd seen during the summe - Sneaking out.

Note to self: make adjustments based on what the deer tell you.
