Late Season Question
I've never hunted late season before and i have a quick question as i will try it this year. I know that it is necessary to find the travel routes between bedding areas and their food, but what exactly do they eat in the winter?

RE: Late Season Question
Well, from what I know about NE WI I believe you are hunting big woods. If that's the case, deer will eat a lot of browse during the late season/winter. Locate the bedding areas and set up close.....as close as possible without being detected. During the late season deer will move as little as possible in order to conserve energy and fat reserves. Most of their feeding will be done on browse very near their bedding areas.
If the snow is not real loud, you may want to still hunt on a windy day right into the bedding areas. Move extremely slow and allow a lot of time for the hunt. Good luck.......I'm hoping to tag a WI bruiser late season myself. |
