RE: Action in the deer woods?

not watching movement...but doing some pushing for the buddies...saw 2 bigguns friday and saturday last weekend...both were solid PA bucks...both over 100" for sure...and know of atleast 2 others the group saw last tuesday that are said to both be BIG 10s

this tuesday my buddy dropped one..not sure what it will score but its 19" inside...was an 8 with 1 broke off making it a 7...left sides g2 looks to be about 6 and the g3 is about 5..brow looks real small...right side looks like a 2-3" brow and a 3" g2 with the g3 snapped off...good buck..but a little weak and missing that g3...

just wonder where they were all hiding in the summer and bow season...they were seen here and there by spotlighters..but noone ever nailed them down..they all seemed to travel ALOT...even though theres cover and food EVERYWHERE...

good news is we had a decint crop of 2.5yos and 1.5yos and things are still lookin good for next season...cant wait..i want to do some spotting and scouting as soon as the rifle season ends and see if i cant figure any of them out for next year...if they are in there after the rifle season, its definently a place they feel safe...and definently a place that should hold them or other good ones come fall...

We have snow up over your knees makes for tough hunting here.
Ditto. It's been some tough going just getting too and from my stands this last week. Wet heavy lake effect snow over our knees here. I still haven't missed a day though [8D]. Whatver doesnt' kill ya only makes you stronger eh?

I've finally started seeing some 1.5 and 2.5 year old bucks coming out from their underground tunnels and hitting food plots during daylight hours (last 15 minutes). The woods are just settling down after the pressure of opening week of gun hunting. Havent' seen any of the big boys that I was seeing during bowseason though.

In the last month.....I've had 2 deer in bow range. I've sighted 14 others from a distance (over 150yds).

Weirdest thing I've ever seen, here. If I hadnn;t gotten my buck on 11/6 when I did.....I'd be pulling my hair out.

I was out after feral hogs with my recurve last night. I saw a basket racked 8. Funny thing was I smelled him before I saw him. His tarsals REEKED! I have never experienced that before.

Last week I had a good 8 come in to me. I haven't been able to get in the woods since then until last night. Yesterday evening I grunted up a nice, but young 8, and a young 4 pt. I also saw a couple of does. I could hear several other deer walking around but couldn't identify them. The high here was 45 yesterday and that is unusual for this time of year in NC. They were on their feet.

I havent been seeing many deer like I have the past 10 years at this time of year. We had about 6 inches of snow fall Wed day and was done snowing Wed night. I hunted Wedafternoon and saw a few deer. I went back Thurs morning and Thurs afternoon and could not believe the amount of tracks in less than12 hours time, was unreal. I even saw some red pee, obviously from a Doe in season, some tore up snow and dirt right next to. The deer around my way are obvioulsy moving moanly at night. I did see 3 bucks chasing a Doe yesterday afternoon acrross a field. Ive spent many a day the last month not seeing a thing. I get excited when I see a spike now where previous years I was letting many 120" bucks walk because I knew I would see much better bucks. I guess its just one of those years.

Some years are like that. You just never know, the action will be very sporadic and brief, you have to be there when it happens. That's the tough part.

I heard from someone back in Michigan (Saginaw County) that they saw a buck chasing a doe at noon about a week ago (November 30). That was the last day of shotgun season and muzzleloader doesn't start until this weekend. Unfortunately, I will not be able to hunt the rest of this season. Good luck to everyone that is going out trying to stick one for some backstraps!

I haven't been out much the last two weeks, but yesterday I cam into work and there were deer tracks in the drive way. [:@] Then, I get home last night and am looking out the back window (about 9 PM), and there are deer standing just on the other side of our fence (less than 40 yards). [:@]
