Who Agrees with Fall Guy??

I think that the Fall Guy system is a Super system that is almost flawless. I cannot understand why some people would hunt without one, or at least SOME kind of safety system. I dont wear one in my climber, but I wear one every other time I hunt out of any other stand. Yes they are pricey, but so it surgery! Anyone disagree? If so, why? I think this could be a good discussion...

Hopefully the bottom never falls out of your climber on you.

We all owe it to our family and friends to wear some form of safety harness at all times while on stand.

I've used them before....I like the idea because you can attach it to yourself at the bottom of the ladder, climbing sticks, screw in steps, etc..and it retracts as you climb. But, like a seat belt in a car, it locks up if you were to fall.

The only problem I had is first someone released it and when I got to my stand it was all the way at the top. Then, the next time I went to that stand someone had stolen it![:@]

I replaced it and used it the rest of the season but I haven't used it since...too many thieves.[:@]

I like the concept, but it is pricey and it costs less to get a SOTP long rope for climbing into hang ons. They are less likely to get stolen to.

Fallguys are a great product. I use them in all of my hang on stands. The only gripe I have is that there is only 20 feet of belt there. Some of my stands are about 30 feet in the air. I have to attach something to the end of the Fallguy clip to extend it out another 10 feet or so. They can also be slightly noisy at times if you are not careful. Other than those negatives, I highly recommend them.

It's much cheaper to use a prussic hitch and 20' section of rop tied to the stand and the bottom of the tree.

How would you get down if you were hanging from a normal harness just attached to the tree?

In that case you would have totry to get to your sticks or steps but if you are using a climber, your left with cutting the strap andclimbing down the tree! Depending on the size of the tree and your physical ability this will be difficult.

With the fall guy you can alsotry to get to your sticks (or what have you) but if in the case of a climber, you can grab the tree, disengage the locking mechanism and climb down STILL ATTACHED. (the locking mechanism will disengage with a little upward movement) this way if you slip again while descending youwon't fall the rest of the way.
