Only mature bucks. No does. I am not seeing half the deer I used to see 7 years ago. Unlimited doe bow tags in this state is ruining the herd. Illinois politicians just care about the $$$.

I only hunt mature deer. I kill a lot of does every year. I will also burn a tag on a cull if I feel he needs to be killed no matter what age he is.

I kill as many does as I can and I shoot whatever buck gets my heart racing ! For me it's about the expieriance and the excitement although I have let a ton of spikes and tiny bodied bucks pass

Well despite my user name, I've never been a fan of the "brown it's down" saying. Being my first year hunting, I'll be content killing whatever buck passes with in bow range. However I'm not sure I'll shoot a spike, it really depends on how desperate I am when the opportunity presents its self.

After that though I'd like to let the scrub bucks walk and stick with 2.5 y/o deer and up!

I try not to shoot any buck less than 3.5 years of age. I do not care really care what the rack size is ( although the bigger the better) but I try and only shoot older bucks. I use bow season to kill a few doe's for the freezer.

I guess starting 57 years of Bowhunting I've gone thru every kinda phase you can think of. Having taken many Whitetails (Assorted Bucks & many Does) 6 years ago I started hunting for a goal Buck I set for myself. I pass all small Bucks & actually in the past 6 years several many would be overjoyed with. I no longer shoot Does at all. Like I said, I have taken lots of Whitetail & many other species of Biggame. This afternoon I had 6 Does pass under or past my stand with 15 yds. I got some good pics & even better video with them under my 12 foot ladder. So, I'm now a Horn hunter but never was b/4 6 years ago. In the old days when only allowed 1 Deer, no matter how, I tagged a few Does with my one & only either sex tag.
These are Does from this afternoon.
