Who's left and who is still out there trying for their first buck of the year with a bow and their contest entry?

We got one more week of the gunners here then I will be back at it. Late season is though but you can still catch a good buck if you can handle the cold and pay close attention to the wind.

Unfortunately the hunting bow has been stripped, no more chasing them with a bow for me. I'm eat up with target shooting right now.

I have yet to grab a gun out of the safe...nor will I. Bow only here. But I have 2 Does and have yet to get a shot at the 4 Big Bucks I want. Patience Danielson...Patience;)

Today is the last day of Illinois regular firearm season:D. Muzzleloader is next but I can bowhunt along with them. Its going to be tough and I don't know as of yet what may be left on land I hunt, but I've decided to still hold out for a big buck. I may be "buckless" this season.

I'll finish out this last week of gun season trying to pop another doe or 2 with my shotgun or pistol, depending on what unit I am in. The hunting will be tough going from here on out. The next I'll pick up the bow is for the late season. Well the next I will take it hunting, I'll shoot between now and then.

Today marked the end of Muzzleloader in MN, I have been out today and yesterday. Yesterday had a really nice buck, worthy of the wall come in opposite of where I was watching....he was silent, we just got about a foot or more of powder on the ground throughout yesterday. Didn't see him until it was too late. Nothin today, muzzleloaders were pushin it hard and came through our area.

Gun season here doesn't end until the 9th. I plan on going out the week after. Good news is that the bowhunting goes until Jan 7th, I believe.

I'm ready to get back to bowhunting. I haven't had a chance to go for 3 weeks, next weekend I'll be back out. This is the first year since 01 that I didn't kill a buck in October or November with the bow. I'd like to be able to say it because I've been passing them up[8D]....but I just haven't seen much this year.

I start going bow hunting heavy for them again on Wednesday,I havegot one big one scouted out at my stand and the rut is still kicking here.

I killed my best archery buck last year on Dec 8th. You can gaurantee Ill be out there. We just need a nice big storm to push those deer onto my winter food plots. I usually see some of my best hunting in the late season.

I'm out there. It gets to be slim pickins in Dec around here. We still have 4 weeks of gun season left (8 weeks total) and they are steady banging.:( Heard about 150 shots yesterday afternoon, but about90% came from the same spot. Drove me nuts.

Well I hunted that last two days, we open back up Dec 1st

I seen 29 deer in two days

28 does & fawns

1 buck that I jumped walking to my stand:eek:

Well unfortunately I was late to enter the contest but I am still looking for a buck to meet my goals. It's been tough but, I may as well go the rest of the way on it.

next week is doe, and the week after is muzzleloader. I'll try and fill my muzzelloader tag with a doe on one farm I hunt, then be at it with my bow and do some 2 man pushes through the clearcuts on the other place I hunt.

Me!! I'm not giving up.. I'm 19 and this is my third season bowhunting. I have had great success harvesting deer both opening nights in the previous two years. Even though I haven't harvested a deer this season, it is by far my most memorable. I passed on a small 5 point earlier in the season which was my greatest experience ever while hunting, this is also the first year I have seen huge bucks chasing does!....... I came so close on the biggest buck Ive ever seen in the wild In early November when I turned around catching him tearing up a tree. Too bad for me he was just about ten yards to far out from any of my shooting lanes.

I have hunted alot this season and haven't had any shooting oppurtunitys to where the last two season I barely hunted and luck just seemed to fall in place... Im dedicated now to harvesting a deer in the late season

I see a deer coming down the trail, Saturday....and I catch myself thinking "PLEASE don't be a buck";)

Okay, last years contest yielded 8 bucks in Dec and 2 in January. That's 10 total past Nov. Does that means the contest will stand as is? Who is still out there that could make a difference in the outcome of the contest standings? All interesting. I didn't see where those bucks fell last year this late but one was to GregH who is already done in the contest and one was to Antler Eater. He's yet to tag one for the contest. Should still be interesting.

We have Germ and a guy who's already passed on a 200"-er still out there (and that's just our shoo-ins).

Gun season ended yesterday, I'll start hunting again this coming weekend hopefully the deer will settle down again. I had some gun hunters push through my area again this year without permission.[:@]
