This is my first ever mule deer. I shot it with a gun. As you can see by the frown on my face, I found the whole experience very distasteful.;)

It's great! I've got a S&W 29 SS 8 3/8 barrel with a red dot. It's very close to bowhunting. I'm sighted in at 50 yards. Got 2 with it.

I also have my Ruger SBH (top one in the pic) sighted in at 50yds. All the iron sighted ones are 25yds.

I used to have to wait till the last weeks of the season (pistol hunt in mid January) but since they opened up the gun season to pistols, I'm in heaven!

To date, I've killed 6 with my pistol...all does but that's about to change....I hope.:D The new weapon law will now allow me to go after a buck. Before (as I'm sure you know) it was does or antler less bucks only in the late gun season.

I have terrific memories of that hunt Greg. DIY with my buddy who lives in Casper. That deer means as much to me as the first whitetail I killed back in 1979. He's at the taxi right now.
