asking for tips on tracking.need help
last night at twlight i shot a muley doe, the shot was in the front left shoulder. When i shot her she jumped up and hauled ass down the mountain. The arrow didnt pass through it was is pretty solid.I did not pursue, i just went to the spot i shot her and GPSed the location. this is my first year archery hunting and unfortunately i did not anticipate this part of the hunt, any ideas will help.

broadside shot in vital/shoulder about 6-8" from spine. the arrow didnt pass through but stuck 8 inches deep. i shot it from 40 yards

You got some great info on your post last night from Virginiashodow and DropTiine 29 so what are you doing still at home Its been daylight for 4 hours get out there and look for your deer!!! What were you anticipating shoot deer and it drop dead? Hope you find it PK

from that description you should be able to find it just go back and track the blood slowly . update us with the results

follow the blood and mark it with somthing when you find more

My experience is mule deer run to cover when hurt and whitetail run to water, if available. Your deer is out there and will be coyote food if you don't find it. You should find it for your own learning and peace of mind. MV out!

if you hit that legbone and got 8" of penetration, shes dead no doubt. That's lungs.
