Unfortunately the only thing to gain from filing trespass charges are a bit of inconveience for the person. Trespass violations are hard to prove and hardly ever a win for the land owner. Most people get off of the charge/charges. The only thing is that you can make their lives a bit miserable for a few months by dragging them to court. The best thing to do is patrol the land as often as you can both in season and off season. That way the idiots know someone is watching.

Diesel, when you're right, FULL STEAM AHEAD. F#$% that guy. Just on general principal I would screw that guy until he couldn't sit. And he comes back every year? You mean your aunt lets him trespass every year. Some of you guys must have hunting spots hanging out your arses to not secure the ones you could have the opportunities to have. Where i'm from land is at a minimum and so is tolerance for **** like that.

Jef - Call Chris and let him know. The sheer fact that he went on park land with a weapon is enough to get him in trouble.

I talked to Chris a little while ago, Greg. He's going at it from that route (parks). I don't wanna involve my landowners, period. I just can't fathom the degree of ignorance and arrogance that would lead someone to believe they were above the law.

I would do whatever the maximum the law would allow me to, just to prove a point and to teach a little respect(if thats possible). And to keep a good hunting spot. Where I'm from, its bow only and there is no public land. You could imagine that hunting land is at a premium. There is a certain element around here that has decided its ok to drive the roads and long driveways looking for big bucks. These guys have specially made poaching guns, some are 22 fired arrow rifles, others operate off of air, and some just use 22s, or their compounds. If I so much as see someone driving slowly down the road, or in camo, I'll folow them and then give them the third degree about private land blah blah blah. Just so they know, that I know.

Jeff, I hope you get this guy. I think I would have been tempted to alert him to my being there, just as he was in mid squat. Could have made for an even worse outcome (for him)than this scumbag deserves.

Haha I let my buddy Bubba handlehis not being able to sit part. My aunt is 74, she rarely even wandersout of her fenced pasture. I could shoot a cannon off on her property and she wouldnt hear it lol, and if she did, would be too scared to go out and confront anyone, she would call me. I went back 2 years in a row just with the intention of making sure this guy doesnt hunt there. Same thing ensued in slightly different fashions. It ruined his and his 4 friendsopening day but ruined any friends that volunteered to come with me as well. Thats why I eventually just said the heck with it.

Thats why I knowin GMMAT situation, if thesejack@$$es live next to the property, it will take an24x7 armed guard to keep these criminals out of there.

Yeah, unless you're there, and they live there, when the cats away, the mice will play. I cant stand disrespectful people. Especially ones who think they're owed something for nothing.

It sucks to have to deal with people who are intent on illegal activity. You may not have caused trouble for him until now because you thought he might retaliate, and he/they might. But, if you don't set a prescedent by involving him with law inforcement, he will most assuredly continue to tresspass, etc.

Back in the day I had exclusive hunting rights to one of my grandmother's farms in Illinois. It was not uncommon for me to catch/chase several tresspassers each season. One guy walked through the river bottom underneath me firing a shotgun. He was shooting birds, squirrels, and even a chipmunk (which I watched him urinate on after he killed it). I waited until he was about 30 yards from me before I alerted him to my presence. By the time he knew what hit him I had hung my bow up, climbed down the tree and was half way to the guy. He was scared so badly by my young, rash temper and 6'-6" frame, I thought he might be pissing down his leg (if he hadn't already emptied his bladder on the chipmunk).

I got the guys name, address, the works, but my grandfather refused to press charges because he was worried the guy would vandalize the property. Guess what. I catch the same jerk the following year about a half mile from there on our place again. He acted scared as usual, etc., but what do you do? If you can't prosecute... they just come back.

Some advise I might give you though. If you choose to have a discussion with Poobah, have a witness with you. If there are several of these inbred characters around, and you are their only nemesis, they can easily fabricate anything they want to about you and simply claim that Poobah 1,2 and 3 or possibly even 4 were all there to witness it.

Good luck!
