Cold Weather..help with the "Boiiiiing!" sound of my bow
 

When it gets down around freezing my bow starts to make a "boiiiiiing!" sound when I draw. Usually after I draw the bow one time in that weather it won't make that sound again for 2-3 hours. My bow draws completely silent at all other times. I just noticed it doing it again 5 days ago when the temps were in the low 30's...any suggestions? I noticed the sound coming from the upper cam (I have a 2004 Reflex Excursion Split Limb). Thanks for any help all.

I don't know what causing the sound, butmy brother has the same problem with his bow. ("Browning Micro Adrenaline"). The first time you draw the bow back it makes a "cracking" sound. When you pull it back the second time it's perfectly silent. Let me know if you find out what's causing this problem.

Limb pockets need servicing. Probably just a little lube will do it. Tear it down and grease.

Thanks guys I appreciate it. I would have to take it to a pro-shop since I don't have a bow press. Then I will have to shoot in my bow again! Any other things I can do besides tear the whole thing down and lube up?

umm.... never tried it, but my fred bear is a split limb too, perhaps you can get a can of compressed lithium grease (looks like a spray paint can but with grease), and try and blow some down in there? its probably too tight though.... unless you loosen the limb bolt down plate and spray some underneath it then? or would that set the bow out of tune? im not sure... need an expert....

Before you do it, there are 2 small rollers on the top limb, the yoke attachesto them. They make a noise about once a year and a shot of a spray lube (small) is all it takes. The problem will only make the noise the first time you draw it. After the first draw it's gone, but will come back after it sits a while.Your description does sound a little different though. Worth a try before you do anything.
I've been shooting a protec since 05 and have no pocket issues. It doesn't seem to me with the way they are designed that they need any lube, but could be.

Thanks for the advice all...I am gonna try something minor to see if it makes it any quieter...then if that doesn't work I guess I have to take it into a pro-shop. I don't want to suffer in the freezing cold for weeks to just miss an opportunity on a deer because my bow made a booooinnnnng sound on the draw!

The sound kept getting worse as it got colder...I drew the bow and could have sworn it was not coming from the limb pockets...today I finally figured it out. Where the Yoke splits and attaches by the cam...that small little plastic piece that it attaches into...it was slightly loose and was creeking.....a small adjustment and it was gone. Man I was worried that I would have to take it into a pro shop.
