2 weeks ago, ranged a lane a monster 8(140 also) waswalking in on at 40yds. He came thru just like on tv, I maaahhhd, he stopped, I put my 40 on him and shot right over his back. It was actually 35 yds. Haven't seen him since. Welcome to my world. Hope you fair better than I have.

Good luck. @ years ago, I missed the biggest buck of my life. He was an old big bodied bruiser that probably went 140+ Followed him for so long, I never saw the branch in front of him. I was sick for days. Later in Rifle season, I scored on a nice 115" 8 point.

Good buck, BUT, not such an ethical shot choice.

I wait and he moves to a small lane, 25yards, I draw and settle my pin, but, I think to myself, I can do better, he is headed towards an open lane. No dice ! he turns around.
Sounds like a great hunt! But man if a great buck like that offers you a 25 yard shot, why on earth would you wait for a better one?

I know what you mean about the coughing thing. I've done that before too.
Because anyone can make a 25 yard shot. He wanted a 40 yarder at an alert deer.[&:][&:]

If i didnt hesitate, it would be a different story. Remember, Im new to hunting. Ive never had to shoot "through" anything before.

Live and learn !!
For being new to hunting you sure do think you know a bunch. I call BS on this whole story. There I just said what everyone else wanted to.
