personnally like a lock on with strap ladder sticks. Allows you to pick out
better trees. Especially oaks.

I don't think I'll every buy a ladder stand... most aren't tall enough, they don't offer good portability, and I don't like that much "equipment" out for the deer to have to get used to.

Fixed-position stands are extremely stable if installed correctly. Though I could fall asleep in the comfort and security of my Summit climbers, I think I'd rather hunt out of my Deer Deck Lites or Copperhead Compacts if I already had one hung where I wanted to hunt.

Well, I don't have the cash to buy numerous fixed stands, and obviously setting them up and taking them down constantly....well, that just AIN'T gonna happen. Though I will say, the climbing sticks sure do make that task pretty easy.

So with the thought of versatility in mind, I bought a climber. The downside? It won't work in just any tree. Fixed stands are fairly forgiving as to the tree.....Not climbers. But, climbers more than make up for that in the comfort department.

Can't beat the climber for confort and portability. But the question is prefer?
Does that mean confort or the better deer stand? Hum?
I go with placement! Lock on with ladder. And it really is easy and quite
to set up.

I have always used the lock-on with sticks, but got my first climber last season. My summit climber is SO comfortable it is my #1 choice. I now only use my lock-ons when the climber won't fit the tree.

Valid points. And you are right. I simply cannot afford the number of fixed stands stix it would take to cover my grounds. And even if I were to have just a couple, that would mean moving them constantly. So, in this case, I prefer a climber. Much more versatile.

In the future, I can see my owning a couple of fixed stands and having them in a couple of the places I hunt most frequently. Because you're 100% right, being in the RIGHT tree is critical.
