Most manufacturers offer good 3D bows. First thing I'd look for is over 7 inch brace height and a longer axle to axle. Then I'd shoot them to see which I liked best. A lot of 3Ds limit the speed to 280 fps. which isn't hard to obtain with carbon arrows. The top shooters practice judging yardage as much as they practice shooting, so a laser rangefinder is nice to have.

BG2Lover,

My favorite target bows are Merlins because of their beauty, function, accuracy, and craftsmanship.
Only the Bowman equals Merlin's craftsmanship but no other bows can touch them, imo.
I have the Max 2000 and Super Nova.
Merlin is coming out with a new Max 3000 soon.
The Max series bows are extremely accurate, stable, forgiving, and have all the speed you need for 3-D competition.
Check them out.

The Max 3000 is not on the website yet but will be in a few weeks.

From Your name I assume you already shoot a G2
Why not shoot it? It has a 7 5/8 braceheight and an IBO of 309 fps or something like that!
My motto is to shoot what I'm gonna hunt with Learn the set up
A good set up hunting rig can preform with the best of them! just my opinion

For the Sagittarious, how do u like ure super nova, i just looked at that and it has an extremely long brace hieght and seems like it would shoot good. How much does it cost in american dollars. For littleal i just want one bow comletely outfitted with light arrows, sure loc moveable sight and the other good stuff. So everyone please respond as i would like to get as many opinions on the subject as possible.

Hoyt Protec or Ultratec
Mathews Conquest 2 or 3
Merlin
Martin makes some good target bows, but I forgot the models
Darton Vegas maybe
CSS makes some target bows also.

The problem with some of the above bows is finding a shop where you can shoot one prior to buying it. My best advice is to shoot first, buy second.

B.G2Lover,

My SuperNova is a beautiful and accurate bow but it's built mainly as a spot and field shooting bow.
It wouldn't be the best bow for 3-D shooting. Especially if you have a short draw length.
The new Max 3000 is the bow I would want for 3-D.
It's supposed to be available in about 8 weeks.

Buckmaster, check out the BowTechs. The Pro 40, either dual or single cam would make a great 3D bow. I think the Pro 40 wheel bow will, too. One thing to keep in mind regarding sights. A moveable pin sight puts you in the open class. Check the IBO site for rules, but I think the max is 45 or 50 yds. A good pin sight and you are in the hunter class. Max 35 yds. If that doesn't concern you, then a good moveable pin sight is a good choice. www.ibo.net

I agree with littleal I like to shoot my hunting rig so when its time to stop playing I'm ready. I think more importantly than the rig is the shooters commitment. my friend and I shoot in alot of 3-d's I am constantly in the top ten and he is always one of the tops. We shoot 70lb hunting rigs with fixed pins. We are serious about range estimating and know the capability of our rigs. i get about 265fps out of my bow so I have to pay more attention to range than the guy who shoots 290fps. But we consistently be the gadget guys with their fancy scopes move able sight etc. Reylamb names some good bows to start looking at. Above all have fun at the shoots.

You don't mean that you shoot from the same stake as the &quot;gadget
guys with their fancy scopes move able sight etc.&quot; do you? And consistantly beat them? That would be impressive!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

I'm looking at the PRO40DC myself. As soon as the shop gets one in for me to shoot. I shot the a Martin Cougar last year and shooting 20-25 fps slower than your competition will put you at a disadvantage, all else being equal.

Buckmaster, I haven't shot many 3-D tornaments but in the few that I have I saw more Mathews Conquest and Conquest2's than anything . I have never shot one myself but I'd say 7 out of 10 of the more advanced shooters were shooting them at the local events I attended.

I would choose Merlin, Max 3000 or the new Light Storm 2. From what pinwheel has said on other forums they are both performers. You will not be sorry with a Merlin, I bought my Apex riser last spring and I am still in love with her to this day. Couldn't say that much for those limbs of mine. If I could afford it I would be getting Light Storm right away for next hunting season. Good shooting.
