College SUCKS!!!
 

Im so pissed right now. I go to school at Ranken Tech College in St.Louis and i live in Central IL. And every1 here that goes to this school all live in the country and are all big deer hunters. So today i came to school an there is no1 here because they are all out slug festing. This just drives me crazy because i want to be out there also. But i bow hunt i think shot gun hunting is way 2 easy to do. Well i though i would let u all know about my frustrations......

ya i hear ya just burns my ass when i walk out of my dorm and its perfect deer hunting weather and u have to go to school. But at least im gettin my education.....

Dont your professors allow 3 missed classes? I used to save all mine for hunting season. Never missed class when I was sick.

Im in the same boat boys,university is taking over my life for atleast the next 2 weeks and im dying to get out in the woods. Since i started bowhunting, shotgunnin' has lost its appeal in many ways as well, not because of the nature of it, but the nature of a lot of rednecks that grab a gun and go blasting through the woods.

Thrasher, I know what you are talking about. I'm a freshman up at UNH (about 640 miles from my hunting grounds), so I don't get to hunt very much. Ask around and I'm sure you can start building some hunting connections. I managed to work it out with the campus police so I can ride my bike with my bow through campus and go hunting at nearby properties. I can only hunt squirrels because I don't have a way to transport deer this year, but I've found a few other guys that are willing to work stuff out, so we can deer hunt next year for sure.

Keep your head up and ask around, I'm sure you can find ways to get out. It's not quite the same, but at least its something.

I hate to break your little hearts but college is probably the easiest part of your life. If you have any sense you've scheduled your classes to be most of all day Tues, Thurs and maybe two morning classes on M,W,F. Some semesters I had Fridays free. You're in class less than half the time you were in high school (and I had many 3 hour labs) and for most people everything is paid for and lots of single women. (if you're working full time to pay for school, this doesn't apply to you) Enjoy it now while you can, the real world is a lot more difficult.

ya i hear ya on the redneck thing thats what my school is made up of. They all just talk about how they go walkin or have ppl drive them towards the shooter. Im like thats not hunting at all. Ur just scaring them towards u and shooting them. Im lookin at next wen. the next time Im in the woods. SUCKS BALL$

Talondale ya I understand but i go to a tech. college. Where i have class M-F 7:35-1 M,W,F and T,TH 7:35-3:25 and im also workin. So all my time during the week is tied up with work or school. But definally is the place to meet alot of single women. thankz agian

I had an interesting argument with one of our interns a few years back... she was complaining about how tough school was and how easy work was and etc... of course i laughed at her and told her she had NO idea what the hell she was talkin about... looking back, when i was complaining about college, now, I long for those easy days and light work loads... even without all the partying and women (and there was lotsa both) college was so much better than "real" life...

ya it sucks you can't go hunting, but, in your situation I wouldn't sweat it much... just make up for it with some drinking and sleepin around so we (all us old married farts with kids and family responsibilities) can all live vicariously thru you!!! daily updates (with pics) would be a nice start!!!! :D

Man i have been lovin' college! I have been doin' more huntin' than i did in highschool! Just the huntin' aint as good where i'm at now compared to home. But its huntin' all the same. Sevenmag, i agree on the drinkin' part but the sleepin' around i'm a little more careful with, some of that $h!t don't go away if ya know what i mean!;)

Just for all u old married farts i will definally start takin pictuers. Oh by the way SevenMag where is Antioch because im from Decatur area but i stay at the University of Missouri of St. Louis. Just kind of curious since i lived in IL my entier life and i have never heard of Antioch.

Dude, that title of this thread is blashphemy! College was the best time of my life and now that I'm out in the "real" world, I yearn for the days of skipping class, partying, beautiful women everywhere and basically doing nothing but going to an occasion class every now and then.

Well thats real college for u i got to a tech college that u go 5 days a week and im workin so im actually out in the "real" world. I do what im goin to school for which is presision machining(Manual Mill and Lathe and CNC Mill and Lathe). I know college is supposed to be easy but this one isnt i think that i had definally more time in the woods a few years ago in high school than i do now....thats why the post name is the way it is.....

Still, you will find your non hunting obligations only grow and you have less time for hunting. Try to enjoy the time you have left.

I here you guys too. It's prime time in Mo. and I have to go talk to advisors and make grad plans instead of being in a tree. It sucks, but think of it this way. Work hard now in class and forfeit time in the the woods and that way you set yourself up in a position to have a good job that will allow you more time later and of course higher pay to spend on new bows and stuff. That's my goal anyway. Have a good job. Support and raise a family. And Hunt!

College is the best time of your lilfe. Do you really think life gets better when you're married, with kids, and a career working to make somebody else rich?

Even if you go to a "tech" college, you're still young, single, with nobody to answer to but yourself. Enjoy it, it's down hill from here.....UNLESS you can find a way to work for yourself. Most of the people that I know who are truly happy (and hunt ALOT) own their own business and work for themselves. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't be working for "The Man", I'd be working for myself. Trust me on that! Not only that, but you'll never get rich working for somebody else.

HEy man, my Father in law teaches auto mechanincs at Ranken... Notice the time I am posting... workin right now... been here since 0200... I don't mind givin up 3 lousy days to the gun guys, when I get over 100 days to go out w/ my bow... I volunteer for night shift for bow season... 4 10s and 3 days off... :D

School ain't bad... enjoy it while you can...

When I went thru college, (6 years worth), I pretty well, had to quit hunting. Its definatley paid off. Nothing worth anything is easy. EE degrees, and MS were definatley very difficult.

haha, school can be a pain. Luckily i have worked my sechedule around hunting so i can spend plenty of time in the woods. Good luck man
