RE: Anti Hunters and P.C.
ORIGINAL: quiksilver Aside from your occasional PETA website posting that gets linked- I've yet to meet or personally witness one of these mythical "anti's" that you guys always speak of. As far as I'm concerned, we might as well be talking about the tooth fairy or Sasquatch. |

Here we go again.
![]() ORIGINAL: quiksilver Personally, I think I'm a bigger enemy to rifle season than some Humane Society forum member ever will be. |
RE: Anti Hunters and P.C.
I love those "vegans" who drive around in their Beemer with the leather seats wearing their calfskin gloves.

RE: Anti Hunters and P.C.
I'll use words like 'harvest/bag/tag/take' and avoid 'kill' when talking with some non-hunters. I use the term 'dispatch' when talkingabout killing trapped critters.
My suburban family/friends always ask if I 'caught a deer'. I know they don't think I'm out there tackling the deer, chasing them with nets or setting traps for them. It's just that the word 'kill' is mostly considered a negative thing in polite circles. If your beloved old dog needs to be killed to put him out of his misery, almosteverybody, even hardcorehunters will use 'put down/euthanize/put to sleep'. Very rarely will anybody say, "I needed to kill my dog today." |
RE: Anti Hunters and P.C.
1. Kill
2. Both (they are mutually exclusive acts in my book) 3. Don't know how to choose this one... we have rules on our land, deer taken in this order, Bad Racks (not non typicals, nasty one sided kinds) and lame/diseased deer go first, Does second, and racks that are 8pt and greater OR wider than the ears... 4. Shoot 5. Bad shot 6. Blood Result? a quality kill |

RE: Anti Hunters and P.C.
That's exactly my point.
You do kill the dog(or have it killed) but you use a different word. Why? The end result is the same. Why not just use kill 100% of the time? 'Killing' a pet seems repulsive to us hunters, just as 'killing' a beautiful deer seems repulsive to others. Just as 'putting to sleep' seems less offensive... so does using the word 'harvest'. I'm perfectly okay with the word kill. (even for my beloved pets) It's not all about me tho'. ;) |
RE: Anti Hunters and P.C.
You will not change an anti hunters mind. I usually don't speak to them very often because they are not the type of people I am around usually. Seems like the anti-hunter stance is a fad anyway for the fewI have met over the years.

RE: Anti Hunters and P.C.
They all have their place , think about it.
Ikilled a 12 pack last night. Iharvested the apples in my orchard. We had Ol' Yeller put down. Man did we take a nice buck last night. We caught our limit of bass. Huntingson still said it right. Say what you mean, but mean what you say. I dont believe in sugar coating. |
