Rut activity and 83 degrees
This weekend saw temps in the 80s again. At the lease we saw several bucks chasing does. My BIL killed a nice,(130), 9 point Sunday morning. He is done, both buck tags filled. I saw a nice 8 with his nose to the ground Saturday AM. He was never closer than 70 yds. Sunday AM I saw a basket 6 running a doe just grunting away. Man it was a sight to see. All the activity died off by 8:30-9:00 when temps started climbing. Today I came to work rather than use a vacation day. The temp at 4:45 this AM when I left for work was 72 degrees with a high expected to be 84. This is almost 20 over the average for this time of year. It sucks. Temps are not forcast to drop out of the 70s-80s for at least a week. Most rut activity will be nocturnal AGAIN this year it appears. This SUX!

RE: Rut activity and 83 degrees
I couldn't agree with you more Greg. This weather does suck. I was down at the lease this weekend as well. The buck I shot (with a gun) came in when I was rattling. Saw a few chasing doe and starting to rut pretty good. I KNOW it would be a lot better if we had some cold weather. These temps just aren't cutting it.

RE: Rut activity and 83 degrees
Greg.
Dont worry about it mate. Next week end is gonna be butt ass cold with freezing rain, sleet and snow squals. How do I know this? It's easy Bob and I are heading to Barksdale for the Axis hunt ( my only deer hunt this year) so the weather is gonna change just to screwme over:D |
RE: Rut activity and 83 degrees
80s this time of year is not normal. Average high temps for November are 60s. However for the past 3 years temps have been in the 80s during the rut. I believe global warming is real.
