What elevation do oak trees stop growing
 
It seems that oak trees start to become far and few between at high elevations. Is there an elevation where oak trees cease to thrive? What is the major food tree at high elevations (above 3000 feet)?

i lived in nc for about a year and there are lot of areas that go over 300 some do nto have trees some have little saplings but they never get bigger then that
there are alot of bald moutain tops there

i took a sapling from a tree at 5500 feet planted it at 2500 at my house and it died i was told it was because the hieght change and temp
