There is a lot of hunting pressure where I hunt. If a deer makes it to 4.5 that is really good. I would take the bigger deer antler wise because he would most likely not make it through the season.

I chose the latter because that isa deer thatis in the prime of his life and is still at 100" and will more than likely never get much bigger, so from a management perspective it makes sense. Now from the trophy side of it this is a mature deer and huntign season aint his first rodeo! He is a trophy in my book!

If i saw them both, id take the 120" for the simple fact that i hunt public property and if i let it walk someone else would surely shoot it before i got a chance at it the following years.

Mature deer unless that 2.5 yr. old is a 150 or better. To be honest, how many hunters have the time or are going to study the buck long enough to be able to tell the difference? Trailcams are still relatively new tools used by a minority of hunters. In the heat of the moment I doubt most hunters have the time to decide. Example: a friends biggest buck was aged by the DNR at 2.5 yrs. old, yet had a 22" inside spread
