RE: scared of the dark?
My wife just told me not to read these posts out loud anymore. She is making her first solo muzzleloader before dark Saturday. She has to walk about two hundred yards or so in the dark to the stand. LOL

I keep garlic(vampires), a silver bullet(werewolf), holy water(vampires), a wooden cross(vampires) a box of matches(frankenstein)and a bottle of water (witches)in a glad bag. If that doesnt work I have my Ruger to atleast buy me some time to press 1 on the cell phone.

Just before climbing down i always end up thinking of big foot. Thats about the only thing in south jersey that has a chance of doing damage. MAybe a coyote or rutting buck but idk i always psyche my self out with big foot.

RE: scared of the dark?
where I am in NC i've been told that there have been a few black bears come through the area in the last year...and everytime i walk out that is always on my mind.
here are a few tips.
buy a bigger flashlight.
one of those flashlights that use a 6V battery.
can't be afraid of what you can see.
also...someone once told me that when an deer is doing that all they really see is the light and not you and that you should shine the flashlight on yourself so they know what you are.
tried it one time myself and that deer turned around and took off faster than I could shine the light back on it.
just don't shine it in your eyes.
