Scenerio..By the time you get from work to the base of your tree it's gonna be 4:15-4:20. Do you take the climber or ground hunt.

The climber will take you another 5-6-8-10 (?) minutes in travel time and climb time. Not to mention more noise is always a risk when climbing in a hurry.


Sunset is 5:15 pm.

I feel your pain i dont get out of class until 4:15 so i am intested to what every one has to say as well.

I think it will give you more time to hunt. Is it private land? If so then just put up your climber and leave it for a couple of days. Or do you have a bunch of thieves around there?

Clinb the tree the shot oppertunities are greater. Plus you are coming from work and the hieghtmight help with your scent.

I hate bringing more stuff into the woods than I need to.... especially when I am in a rush. I would find myself a nice big tree and kick back for an hour.

I'm a climber. I've been busted every time I've ever been on ground level with a whitetail.

I would keep the noise and travel time down and hunt the ground in a spot you can slip into for a hour hunt.I would let my prime area cool down and hunt on the weekend fresh.But thats me.

I want to go up so bad.....I've ground hunted another farm the last 2 nights. Always a chance, but didn't feel the same. Gonna sneak out 10 minutesearly and climb. See ya'll Tomorrow!

Depends on how confident you would fill hunting on the ground In that area or stand sight?

For me it would be the tree!

I do this every Friday. I sit the on the ground. I do my best to get a little bit of cover around, in front, and behind me and sit dead still. All but 1 of the deer I've ever taken have come from sitting on the ground, though I'll admit, I have not yet taken one with a bow :D.

I have tried ground hunting lots of times. 0 kills. I'd rather be in the climber for only a half an hour of prime hunting.
