RE: FOB FLETCHING?

Im in the process of testing some out right now. Ive only shot them for one day at 20 and 30 yards and only with field points, but so far they fly great. Im shooting Blazers and was very skeptical about the FOBs, but the guy at Starrflight sent me some to try and I have to say the fly as well as my Blazers at 30 yards. I still have to shoot them at longer distances and with b-heads but Im gonna give them an honest try and see if they fly broadheads as well as they claim. My only problem so far is hitting my anchor point, when I anchor my draw against my face, the FOB is against my cheek, and it seems like I have a little trouble getting my eye into my peep, the FOB holds the string 1/2 inch out from my normal anchor point, as soon as I got over that, they shot great for me. Im shooting two Blazer fletched arrows, and two arrows with the FOBs and they all group touching one another.

I am curious what happens to these things on a pass through.

They claim they will just pop off and let the arrow go on through. You pull your nock out, install it on the rear of your shaft, and then reinstall your nock. The nock has to come off to let the FOB off. I think it would HAVE to hinder penetration some, but the broadhead is already through by the time the fob gets there, I dont know, but Im gonna find out!!:D

I've spoke with Paul, too. He sent me a few to try out, too. I have to get my drop away set up on my bow before I can try them. But anyway....He said to test the penetration was to take a deer hide and stretch it out far enough in front of the target so it will clear the hide before it hits, then shoot a fletched arrow and a FOB'd arrow through the hide and see which one penetrates more. I'm gonna give it a go since I have 10 hides in the freezer anyway.

RE: FOB FLETCHING?

I started using them this year. Used blazers before. Fly the same as the blazers, but I like not having to fletch anymore. Other than that I don't know if they are any better or not, kind of a person thing.
