Cleaning up for pictures?
This probably isn't my place to be saying anything but i've noticed alot of the pictures of all the animals that have been shot and then posted on here have alot of blood in the pics or tounges hanging out! As far as i'm concerned its no big deal to you and me but when the non hunters or the bunny huggers see these pics andthey really frown on it. One person does it and they think were all bad then! I beleive we have to portray ourselvesthe best we can weather its telling stories or showing our pictures off to a non hunter or anyone! I've heard people comment on pictures when there all gory and bloody, there not good comments! Every year it gets worse i think with some of these pics i see! Being we are on the internet these pics will travel very fast and will be seen by alot of people. Some of you may not agreefrom what i just said but i guess i've been doing my part for the last 20 years i've hunted to make our sport look and sound very clean and ethical. This message isn'taimed at any one person by no means, its just something for everyone including me to think about the next time we take a picture of our deer or any animal we shoot!

RE: Cleaning up for pictures?
i often thought of that....and actually stopped saying "kill" and used "harvested" or "got" instead...but then i got to thinkin...
why sugar coat it?? i KILLED the animal. YES the holes i put through it bled. yep...blood REALLY comes out of the mouth and nose with certain hits. YEP the tounge really DOES hang out... i clean up for some pictures for the PICTURES purpose...not because i dont want anyone to see the reality of things, i take those pics first... i wont hesitate to show holes on skinned out deer...i wont hesitate to show what my 22-250 does to a groundhog... thats reality...why sugar coat things just because "they" are most likely watching? we are hunters... after doing research all day for my speech tomarrow, im coninced THEY know very little...and they dont have any real strong arguments and LOVE to contradict themselves... ya, blood and guts and gore isnt things non hunters like to see...but thats reality...this is life...thats my opinion on the topic... not saying your WRONG..i thought the same way for a while...but in the end, it really doesnt matter...we are hunters..PERIOD..they KNOW what happens.... heck of alot more humane than NATURE. starvation, disease, car accidents, predation etc...all of which they say is "nature taking its course" sure it is...but a bullet or arrow placed through the vitals is alot more humane then getting eaten alive by a pack of yotes!! |

RE: Cleaning up for pictures?
but when the non hunters or the bunny huggers see these pics andthey really frown on it I know you weren't singleing me out, but I felt I needed to respond anyway. because I know my pic wasn't all that great. But like I said the bunny huggers as you call them are going to be just as disgusted with the other types of posts mentioned. So do we cater to them on OUR site or do our thing? |

Hey ya know i dont want to hear the antis whine just as much as the next guy but come on. This is our way of life, things die due to a loss of blood. That blood has got to go somewhere and somtimes it comes out the nose or some other 'holes'. Im not saying that i wont clean my kill up a little bit but im not gonna bust a nut trying to make it look alive still. Just my 2 cents.

RE: Cleaning up for pictures?
I think you have a valid point . Personally I do not try to please the anti hunting types, but do agree unfortunately that it could be damaging to our sport . I appreciate your input and will keep it in mind .

RE: Cleaning up for pictures?
This year I have determined that I am going to clean my pics up from now on, I want them to be professional looking!:D

RE: Cleaning up for pictures?
Pictures with the tongue hanging out and blood everywhere look like crap. End of story!

RE: Cleaning up for pictures?
I agree and I clean up the mouth and get the worst of things cleaned up, but I am not going to wash the thing down and spend hours to make it look like it is sleeping instead of what it is, which is dead. Afterall, I am celebrating the fact that I was able to turn a living animal into a dead one. That is the bottom line here isn't it?
In fact, I like being able to tell where the entrance wound is. If I know that it was a good shot, then I know the animal did not suffer. That is more important to me than a tongue hanging out. My final point is that on this website we have posts showing pictures of what certain broadheads to on impact to an animal. Those are helpful to show what broadheads do a better job at causing mass blood loss. Why should those not be allowed on a hunting website? This is a hunting community site. Remember that Political Correctness is the thought that you can pick up a turd by the clean end. |

RE: Cleaning up for pictures?
Also how many non-hunters are coming to this site? I'm not defending the really bad pictures. Like I said I agree with you. But my point is that if the non-hunters and bunny huggers come here then they will find more than bad pictures to be offended by.

RE: Cleaning up for pictures?
simple, the bunny huggers should not be in these sections. I hate the thought of having one set of rules for everyone, if you don't like it stay out.

RE: Cleaning up for pictures?
This has nothing to do with the animal lovers. Clean up your deer and stop being Mr. Toughguy.

Eagleye, you tell me if i don't like it stay out? This is not a rule i said but a suggestion to everyone!!!!! Bunny Huggers won't be in here but i gurantee a bloody looking pic will make it out of here on the internet for everyone else tosee! I didn't say anything about a hole a broadhead put in the animal, i was just talking about the side of a deer covered with blood or a big tounge hanging out! This is one awesome sport we have to enjoy, i'll do anything in my power so that your kids, my kids and the future generation will have the right to do what we are doing now, and thats hunting my friend! Its too bad we have to changeour ways a little but what ever it takes i guess to keep our sport we better start a doing!

Seems to me like you guys are just lazy. If you take pride in harversting deer then taking quality pictures should go hand and hand.

It really doesn't take much effort to turn a terrible picture into an incredible picture. All Schultzy is asking for is a touch of effort. That's not too much to ask.

I agree with James. And Shultzy. It doesn't take too much time, and it goes along way.

RE: Cleaning up for pictures?
Thanks guys and girls! I wasn't asking no one to give the deer a shower, just asking everyone if maybe in the future when they take pics to think about what a non hunter may think of them.

RE: Cleaning up for pictures?
And just because I have a million examples of what to, and what not to do as far as taking pictures goes, I thought I would throw in an example.
What NOT to do: What TO DO when taking pictures: Weapon, Animal, Outdoor Location, Full Flash, Clean-Up Blood, SMILE! |
RE: Cleaning up for pictures?
More than one person in the picture? No problem, Hunter goes closest to the Horns!
|
RE: Cleaning up for pictures?
Definitley agree you should clean up your buck, espeically since most of the pics I see on here are from trophy hunters. You go through all that time and effort to kill a nice buck and there is blood and guts everywhere with the tongue hanging out. It is not appealing or cool looking at all. We are all aware of the blood and guts that come from killing a deer. You got a buck, now clean it up and take a good picture that people will always appreciate.

RE: Cleaning up for pictures?
I take my pictures with all the blood. Not here to impress anyone and to be honest I'm not taking pictures for anyone but myself. I like to remember the animal and see it for what it is....a KILL. Harvesting is picking corn and other vegetables. Hunting....well....its just killing. If y'all want to go out and wash your animal all up and everything else just to take a picture, more power to ya. ButI definitely see no problem with showing the blood and entry/exit hole. It doesn't take away from the trophy at all and if nothing else protects the weak stomach of others by washing it up. If pictures are being taken for a magazine or something of that nature I agree, clean the animal up, but for my own personal use or posting to this site the animal will remain as is blood and all. After all, when you buy something like a magazineyou pay for the quality. When I log into Hunting net,I come for the REAL stories and REAL pictures from REAL every day people.
