Try and find out what days the guys hunt. I know that on my hunting club (300 acres, 8 members) during mornings of bow season, I have the entire 300 acres to hunt. However, during evenings, weekends, and rifle, Im limited to my "core area" (50 acre spot where I've maintained trails, treestands, blinds, etc.) however the property has deer moving through all of it. Basically, what I am saying, is that the guys cant possibly hunt it every day of the week. Surely (hopefully), they have jobs/school, etc. Unless of course the state of WV is about to stock a local creek full of trout (one would think it was a holiday with all the people around) . And if they do hunt the property every day of the season, then perhaps you should expend the energy on looking for a new place to hunt, instead of fighting with them, because chances are, its for a lost cause. Just my 2 cents.

Bowfanatic & Wolfen,

I really don't know how many different ways I can tell you how wrong you are about so called "Donald Trump" "Richie Rich" comments. Apparantely you may not be objective enough to comprehend what I've stated about 3 or 4 times already. I drive a freaking 1991 chevy s10 truck and live in a $50,000 house. I work from sunrise to sundown in the field. This way you perceive me as being in a little polo shirt being careful of getting my hands dirty has to go!!! My counterpart on the other hand like I also said has a lot of other land posted and lives in a $150,000 home and makes very good money. So I ask you who's the little guy here??
As far as the little lease deal they made....... If you think I'm going to just lay down after the **** they pulled prior to that and their intentions of screwing me for opening day you're nuts!!! Bow out peacefully?? Sorry dude not this kid!! They drew first blood.
They've been there 20 years..... They've been there 20 years blah blah blah blah. You're telling I should feel sorry for and respect these people??? So how long do they have the rights to hunt there??? Will it be a part of their family for generations? What about my kids? What their is a new landowner.....will he be a "butthead" for not letting them hunt?? Heck they've been there 20 years what's he thinking?
You're going to defend someone who shot 4 bucks and his one son shot 3? The other son who knows probably as many. I should respect their wishes huh??? 20 years right? Maybe if I leave that piece of land they can shoot 15 to 20 next year that would be good?? What about the sport itself?? How about protecting that instead of defending the people that are ruining it. I should feel sorry for the people that broke every hunter harasment law ever made??? I'll stick with sticking up for and respecting the people that are worthwhile. People that respect the sport and are ethical within the sport. Like Rob said I think it's time for a new Sheriff. One that will truly look over the land and not for other motives!! I'll stick to respecting the people that are deserving of my respect. The people that respect the sport and abide by the laws.

You invested alot of time and work? What do you think of their twenty years worth of investment? I bet it hurts them a heck of alot more than it hurts you!
This should be evident of that:".... The one son was almost in tears for crying out loud because they don't bow hunt and we were going to screw up the whole property."

This says it all for me right here!

boo hoo now they can't poach as many deer???

Hey whatever you guys think of me I've been born and raised by doing it by the book. Respect the animal and the outdoors. I have no compasion for people like that. 20 years 40 years 60 years i don't give a s***!!!!

bow and wolfen not only should these people not have the priveledge to hunt that piece of land, they should not have the priveledge to hunt period!!

Sincerely,
Donald Trump

silentassassin...I'll take you up on your offer...hey, I got a great new spot I just bogarted some rednecks out of, it's right next to a goat ranch of a golf course. What do say?

davidmil...you're always welcome to come gut and drag but I have a feeling you'd have about 3 down and tagged before silent and I hung our first stand.

RobPABowyer...Come on now Rob. How many times have you gone to get permission and the landowner is all happy go lucky and just seems to get all aglow just because you even stopped by to have a conversation and he grants you permission to hunt and fish and whatever on his land and he is more than happy to drive around the property with you showing you where he "thinks" would be a great spot to hunt etc...only to later find out that half the county has been given permission to hunt there as well. Many times the landowners I come across don't have the first clue about hunting and don't understand about pressuring the deer, tromping through bedding areas, and just plain stinking up the joint. I've been on both sides of the fence on this issue and when I'm the late comer to a property then by all means buddy, I back off and leave it be. I do this for a couple reasons...1) They were there first and I respect that and honor their position. Just because the landowner said I could hunt there doesn't mean that I should. (That being the "gentleman" thing to do as you put it) 2) Personally I like hunting smaller areas alone or with one partner depending on the amount of acreage we're talking about. I like to learn the deers patterns and I want to be responsible for the amount of pressure or lack of pressure that the deer receive. I don't want some yahoo doing something stupid and screw up a time-valued precious hunt. In this case, 350 acres is way too small for 5 flippin' hunters.

Another thing, just how hard did the titleist golf guy search for land to hunt? He busted arse all the way next door....whew that must have been some hard lookin'! Is there no other land in the state where this guy can look or does he HAVE to hunt next door where Cooter and his sons have been hunting for 20 years? Ahhh but let's look at his real motivation...("And I don't want to seem like we want to take over the land totally, but Ummmmmm I guess I do. They deserve it!!&quot Yes, quite the "gentleman" Rob!!! He wants to take it over and convert it into a "hunting club"...how quaint. I think his conscious is getting the best of him...if he has one.

nodose...it is grammatically incorrect to not capitalize the first word of a sentence. I found at least 10 other spelling errors in your first post so please, sir, let's be careful about who we call a "redneck". Also, you sound like a frickin' Nazi with your suggestions made in your first post. You said, "along with what ive told you i would also start hitting his bank book. check the area building codes to see if he has any violations on his property...ie outdated septic systems that arent up to code, vehicles on his property that aren't licensed, setbacks on buildings, illegal utility tap ins...etc..etc. sounds to me like this guys not real concerned about following rules and is a genuine a**hole, so im sure you'll probably find something. i would become this guys worst nightmare!!!!!!" Get a frickin' life dude! You would do all of this for a measley 350 acres??? Who's the a**hole???

titleist...my last post was posted prior to reading your most recent post. I still maintain that it is only 350 acres and it is just not worth it! Now if these guys are gun poachin' slobs then yes, that does suck and I despise that if what you say is true. However, why deal with them? You will always have problems with them. Find someplace else...let them have their 350 acres, at least that way you know where they are at and they won't be out ruining anyone else's hunting ground. The amount of effort you are going to expend on locking up this 350 acres could be better spent finding another 3500 acres to hunt somewhere else IMO. I had a very, very similar situation happen to me when I came home from college years ago and needed to find a place to hunt. I found a spot and the landowner was happy to let me hunt the ground. It was an abandoned apple orchard surrounded by thick timber...what a spot! I scouted, plotted, and planned all summer long and was pumped! However, the weekend before the season opened I went by the landowner's again to let them know exactly where I would be hunting and when. It was all good and in parting the landowner says, "oh by the way, you better let Frank, next door, know that you are hunting because he hunts here too" Well I go knock on ole Frank's door and let him know the scoop thinking it would be no big deal since he is only one guy and this is a nice section of land to hunt. Well Frank blows up and goes crazy and says he has 4-5 other guys that hunt with him there and has for years and blah, blah, blah. I started to argue with him but then quickly realized that even if I win, I lose and it would never have been a peaceful spot to hunt. It would have been tainted by turmoil and drama...much like your situation. Now Frank is a known poacher and would sell deer meat out of his house (very illegal). I alerted the proper authorities once and left it at that. Frank went his way and I went my way. I found another spot and have been hunting it for 11 years now. Now if Frank and his sons were hunting the spot and had been for years and had permission then I would have still backed off because the spot was not big enough for more than two hunters and they were there first. Either way, I'd walk and I think you should too.

I think this board is hillarious. I see people constantly berated for not doing the absolutely most ethical thing, and yet now we have people coming out of the woodwork supporting slob hunters and beating up on someone who's trying to do the ethical thing. The undercurrent seems like the same rich vs. poor liberal crap. It has just become too hard to dig through the trash on this board to find the scraps of valuable information. Have a nice life.

nodose...I may have a single, solitary, lone bit of debris in my backyard but your's (notice the apostrophe between the r and s denotes possession) is littered with debris not fit for a landfill.
