RE: salt question

The good newsis yesyou can feed them water softener salt, the bad news is they arent after salt this time of year. Try it in the Spring/Summer when mommas nursing and daddys growing headgear.

RE: salt question

I usually just use a big salt block I get from the local feed store. How much does the water softener salt cost, and how much does a bag weigh?

RE: salt question

Water softener is about 5 bucks for a 40-50 pound bg but it melts faster than a salt block which is about the same price.

RE: salt question

I use trace mineral blocks. They are brown in color and they are better for the deer than just the salt. And like predator19 said, put them out in the spring or summer. They don't even touch them right now.

The best thing I've been using and they are tearing it up now is A&H Washing Soda and Stock Salt.

RE: salt question

Deer are hitting the salt and mineral blocks hard here. Any salt will do I use mineral blocks, morton salt, loose salt from the feed store, di-cal, and deer cocaine in the same hole.

RE: salt question

Momma dont need salt for milk and daddy dont need salt for horns. Try di-cal (di-calcium-phoshate). Or theres another one cant remember the name right now its for lactating cows to produce milk its avaible at the feed stores

In the past I used 100# Stock Salt,50# Trace Mineral,and 50# Dical.

It did ok but like I say something they seem to be hitting all year is the A&H Washing Soda.
