Cheap, yet comfortable hang-on stands???

What is the cheapest hang-on stand that you would deem comfortable? I’m talking about 3-4 hours on stand.

I haven’t hunted from a hang-on stand in 6 years. I now hunt from a climber and all I can remember from the days of hunting from a hang-on was how comfortable and happy I was with my new climber.

With that said, the reason I’m asking is because I hunt the in/out trails of an alfalfa field. Its always the same spot(s) and from the same tree(s). I want to pick up 2-3 hang on stands for those trails that are farthest from the truck. After they’re set, it will be easier and quieter getting in, you never know when or where they’re at on those trails.

Thanks,
Toby

I just got a Rivers Edge Bigfoot. It is big and comfy. Look at the Rivers Edge BigFoot XL Lounger. It is a little expensive but it looks like and INCREDIBLY comfortable stand.

The Game Tracker Gorilla series are a good bargain. They have a few different models, I'm sure you'll find one that fits your needs.

I have a River's Edge Bandit down in the basement that I would classify as inexpensive and comfortable. The seat has 4 inch thick foam which feels like heaven on your fanny. The platform size is relatively large and total cost is around $40. The only drawback is that it is heavy...around 15 lbs...because of the chain.

I have a couple that only weigh about 7 pounds but they're NOT comfortable. I have a Remington and a API Baby Grand which are heavier.... but VERY comfortable. Both of those were around $100. I guess it depends on your backside and the amount of weight that's pushing down on it. I just can't sit for long periods of on these slings seats, bars etc. Both the REmington and the API have large padded seats. I normally stand at least half the time. If you're not concerned about a couple extra pounds and the stand is going to be used as a semi permanent thing I'd look at something like these. The Remington is HEAVY.... API not so.

I use Hunter's View hang on stand. I can't remember the name right now. I used an air cushion this year to sit on and it made a world of difference. After the foam gets pushed down on the seat it can get to you after a while. But I buy one at Dick's sporting good for 35 dollars every year. I now have 4. Last year they were really pushing them and it was 25 dollars. I've stayed for 4 hours in mine with only the usual aches and pains.

I just picked up 2 Hunters' View Wildcats from Kmart for $18 apiece. I don't care how uncomfortable they are, you can't beat $18. I bought a seat to carry in and out with me as this one doesn't have a padded one included. Check your local Wally Worlds as they drop the prices big time right about now. One local Walmart that doesn't get much hunter traffic drops the prices to ridiculous levels. I plan on getting a whole case of screw in steps for $.50 apiece. They have 15' ladder stands for $31 and climbing sticks for $27.

Man, some of you guys are lucky. Here, our Wal-Mart doesn't lower hardly anything in price, well, with the exception of deer scents that will go bad (doe urine). After hunting season is out, there are no markdowns, they just take everything off the shelves. I went their looking for some steps for my new treestand and they had already put them back in storage, so, I have to go to Trader Horn and buy them. 1.99 each.
