Monster Illinois 10 pointer update
Below is a link for the story on the Illinois ten pointer that has been officaly green scored at 198 1/8. There has been some speculation about the common base tines and where the end of the main beam on the right antler was. Time will tell if the green score will hold up. As big as this buck is, it will likely end up being panel scored at some point.

RE: Monster Illinois 10 pointer update
I saw that story earlier this morning. Man, that's one impressive buck. I don't care what he scores, and I'm sure the kid who shot him doesn't either. He's a giant any way you look at it.
Also, you can't "officially" score anything until it's gone through the 60 day drying period. I've seen several articles about how it was "officially" scored already, which are wrong. Doesn't matter if an official scorer put his tape on it or not, it doesn't mean anything for 60 days. In light of it all, congrats to the guy who shot it. That is a once in a lifetime deer and he's in for one heck ofa whirlwind year with all the press that thing is getting. Hopefully it's at the IL Deer Classic, I'd love to take a look at it. |

Of course you are right. I think the point is this deer has been measured by an official measurer and not Billy Bob and Jimmy Joe with a steel tape and their shoes off! :D I would assume that the vast majority of the members of this forum are fully aware that nothing is official until the 60 day drying period is up. Even then, it may come down to a panel score. Remember the Zaft Buck? ;) |
