RE: how to remove "hitch hikers"
Normally I use a knife but I didn't have one handy the other day for my fleece pants so I used a coarse grit sand block and wiped them fairly clean. There was about a pound of spanish needles on them. You could hardly see the camo.

i use a wire brush like a dog brush as bigtim said. usually works pretty good i have one set aside for it. Their still a pain in the rear i had to throw a shirt away one time it had them so bad i couldnt even pull it apart i hate when they get in your hair too.

I scrape em off with a knife like others have said but they are impossible to get out of wool. You just keep picking and picking.[:@]
Yea now I avoid em as much as I can.

Use a Scotch Brite scouring pad and it wipes them right off. They're cheap and easy to pack or keep in the truck. The "football shaped" onesare called Cockleburrs, or sometimes called "velcro weed". (My dad had me conviced they were porcupine eggs when I was a little spit. He thoughtit wasfunny that I would try to hatch them, 'till momfound them all over the house embedded in the carpet and blankets.) Those you have to pick off.

"sticktights" is what we call the flat 3point seed. and ditto on the sharp knife. After i takemy hunting clothesoff i hang them up on the clothes line and start scraping.
