Heaviest doe?

We always talk about how heavy bucks can get, but I've never seen anything online or in a magazine that have mentioned huge does that were harvested. I've shot a couple of does that went between 150-160 lbs. "on hoof", but I know there are some really big does out there. Any stories?

This is a good topic Ohiobuck. I have been hunting almost 50 years and have killed over 125 whitetails and I have NEVER seen a doe that went over 100 lbs, actual weight on a scale. I know lots of guys have. I know they are around, but I have never seen one. I mentioned this to my processor, who does 800 - 900 deer each season, and he said it is very rare for him to see a doe over 100 lbs, but he has seen them.

Ok, my biggest wasn't weighed but I did put one o the scale last yr.
I've shot 2 larger, one was weighed at118lbs........ no head no hide and legs cut off at the hocks. It was actually my first a deer and I cut the legs too high the butcher had no where to hag it from.

I used to process deer for Christmas money, when I was younger, and we weighed on a scale at 305#. She was a freak of nature, the other deer would hang with their heads over 1ft off the ground. This freaks shoulders touched the ground, I could barely get my arms around her chest. Biggest doe I have ever seen. Funny part is this guy said he almost didn't shoot her because he thought she was too small!!! He said he didn't have anything near her to judge size and thought she looked small.

305 LBS!!! ARE U KIDDING??

All the teenagers at my school can only manage to shoot does and they all say the same thing:

Oh she weighs around 180lbs....

In reality though i think most big does prolbably weigh around 120 or 130, anything around 150 is a just a hoss

i see does harvested every year here in illinois that are 125-150 feild dressed, if it's under 100 lbs, it's usually a yearling or year and half

305 is very possible, in the north country. North Maine and New Brunswick have some monsters.

Last year I shot on that weighed 110 that is a good size for south AL. Most around here that are shot are 90 -100.

I killed one old doe several years ago with my muzzleloader on a managed hunt at Pelican Island CA, upnear the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers. The whole river bottom up there was surrounded by soybean and corn feilds. She weighed 136# feild dressed. If you use the rough estimates of 1/3'rds she was pushing 200# live weight. It was funny because one of the guys in our hunting party shot a nice 2.5 year old 7 point buck and she absolutely dwarfed him!

about 190 max here on the hoof.

120-125 dressed. Don't remember the actual weight. Have heard "stories" about them 200 pounders, now there are 300 pounders? Wow...we need to feed em better in Mid-Michigan I guess. Most of the does taken in my area are 80-110 dressed.

RE: Heaviest doe?

Hey Jim 190 on the hoof would be about 160 dressed. Thats a big doe.
And 200lbs live is about 170 dressed........ you would get about 90lbs boneless meat off that one.
The biggest deer I have seen went 350lbs live weight and about 300 dressed and it was a huge bodied buck. I can't see any doe going 300 live or dressed. In other words I want to see pics or bust.
300 live wgt would be almost 250lbs dressed...... sorry that a little far fetched to me. [&:]

I have witnesses that saw the scale when I killed a 140 lb doe in Central Alabama. She is one of the biggest deer I have ever killed. Most does around here are much smaller. My last was only 85 lbs.

Up until a few years ago, they used to weigh eveyr deer checked in. I remember checking one in that I took on MLK's birthday and it weighed 138 dressed.

Heaviest I killed weighed 104 dressed, pretty big foreastern OK. Average doe around here weighs upper 80's probably (field dressed). A local check station has a big buckand heaviest doe contest every year, last year's winner was 106. Hunted in Effingham, Illinois way back, dang they grow 'em big over there!!

JoeRE 10-29-2007 06:37 AM

RE: Heaviest doe?

The biggest doe I have ever seen had 82 lbs of boneless well trimed meat. most mature does I helped dress have around 60 lbs of meat. I have never weighed any....but my guess makes that biggest deer close to 200 as she had an inch of fat over all of her...over 2" on her back. She only had a few teeth left in her....and that is a BIG doe.

RE: Heaviest doe?

I shot one doe last year that went 150lbs live weight, and that is the largest I've shot. I saw one on Saturday that was about the same size, but she never came out from behind brush for me to get a shot at her.
