I was out last night and had a 6pionter come by on the trot. It was definitly on a mission for something.... i dont know what though. Seems a little early but things should start to happen.

RE: Anyone see chasing?
My buddy told me there aredeer hit all over on the highway here in PA so I'm guessing it has begun. This is usually a good sign things are starting up.
|
RE: Anyone see chasing?
I watched a few small bucks chase some does around then saw a large 8pt come out of the trees and lock horns with one of the smaller bucks. Things are heating up in SD

RE: Anyone see chasing?
There is a difference between chasing does and dogging does. The bucks are clearly ready, the does are not.....of course there are exceptions. Things should really change in the next two weeks.
|
RE: Anyone see chasing?
I saw some chasing last night when I answered that age old question truthfully..... "Does this dress make me look fat?" [:-]
I was watching TV and not really paying attention. [:o] |
RE: Anyone see chasing?
Most of you are probably just seeing bucks buggin the does, not the actual chase phase of the rut - but I will agree with ya'll and say it isn't far away.
|
RE: Anyone see chasing?
Not yet. Last week the bucks were just starting to move during the day. I would expect the within the next two weeks there will be lots of bucks on the move and out chasing.
|
RE: Anyone see chasing?
i live in southern indiana and its not early for them to start chasing now and i saw a nice 4 pointer chasing a doe
|
RE: Anyone see chasing?
I believe they are seeking. They will be chasing within the next few weeks.
Sure hope they catch some. |
RE: Anyone see chasing?
I hope the bucks give me a phone call before they start the chase here
|
RE: Anyone see chasing?
Seen a big 8 tonight, one of the does walked up to the buck.... then he chased her off the field into the woods, he was in the mood but i dont think she was ready...real soon though i think.

RE: Anyone see chasing?
I went out last night and had a buck chasing and grunting at some does
|
RE: Anyone see chasing?
The young bucks are geared up and ready to go but the does want nothing to do with it. I saw 2 young bucks dogging does last night. One of the does got on her hind legs and swatted at one of the bucks head with her front legs then ran off. Pretty funny stuff.
|
RE: Anyone see chasing?
Does aren't ready.. There were 20 of them in the soybeans last night on my way out of the stand and no sign of seperating yet. No bucks that I could see.
|
RE: Anyone see chasing?
Here in SE Michigan the bucks have been stalking for 2 weeks. I seen a 12 pt. come in hot and ready but, the does just scattered. Last week I missed a 10 pt. after he came in after a doe. No doubt, they are close. I think with the drops in temps here that by this weekend things are gonna get interesting.

I believe we are in the seeking phase as well in my area. I've called 2 small bucks in already, and saw a 10pt come out at 2:10 PM last Sat!;)

RE: Anyone see chasing?
They have been chasing for a week or so here in northern michigan...have seen 2 mature bucks chasing now...
|
RE: Anyone see chasing?
I was hunting monday night, saw 12 different bucks, including spikes, they were chasing does and gently sparring all afternoon.
|
RE: Anyone see chasing?
What ALOt of people don't understand is that just because the bucks are chasing does in South Dakota doesn't mean the bucks in West Virginia and Pennsylvania are chasing and begining the "rut" phase. The does being chased by bucks and the begining of the "rut" happens at different times in different parts of the country. It's all relatively close to the same period of time but might be 2-3 weeks different in certain parts.

RE: Anyone see chasing?
I hunt in northern Minnesota, and have seen bucks pursuing does this week. Watchd 2 nice bucks squabbling the other nite in my field, so they are getting ready for the rut around here. Taz

RE: Anyone see chasing?
I hear they are chasing in Mid-Michigan. Mainly just youngsters pestering the does, but my dad saw a giant 10 or 12 point bedded with a doe Tuesday night. He actually walked up on them unknowingly and was about to climb into his stand, before they saw him and took off.
|
RE: Anyone see chasing?
Sure do hope so, headin up to Sanilac Cty. in the morining for the whole week, just hope the time is right.
|
RE: Anyone see chasing?
I drive 52 miles round trip everyday through some awsome rural farm land and wood lots. The road kill numbers took a huge jump earlier this week. Does, spikes and forks. I believe that speaks for itself. The young horny toads are acting stupid. I haven't seen a any big ones on the side of the road yet but unfortunatly that will happen soon enough. It always does.:(
