coyotes

i was out hunting the other morning and i was walking out from where my stand was. while i was walking back a coyote popped out on the road and started walking my way. i was planning on shooting it so i stood still and got ready to draw my bow back. then out popped2 more coyotes behind the first one. i was still planning on shooting one then out popped 2 more. so now theres 5 coyotes headed my way. i know that coyotes are usually scared of humans but i didnt know what to think about 5 coyotes together. at the moment i didnt know what to think so i scared them away before they got to close to me(my shooting range). next time i see them i want to shoot one but i was just not shure about the five of them getting to close to me cause i was hunting by myself. do any of yall think they would have bothered me since there was that many together???

They would have fleed immediately upon making your recognition. You could have waited them out and shot one if you could. 5 together were either a mom and her pups or a hunting party.

People often don't realize how afraid of humans animals are. Remember that we are the top of the food chain. I am guilty of this as well. If a racoon starts to climb my tree I almost wet myself so don't feel like I am picking on you.

huntingson, I'd be more concerned with a raccoon climbing my tree than I would a pack of yotes face to face.....

Stick and arrow in one. Ive had two walknearme one time. walked 20 yards in front of me. I stuck the first one, and the other bolted. They are very scared animals. You probably had a female in heat, and the males were following her. The one I shot was a female that was in heat.

Definitely should have shot the coyote.. There could have been 15 of them together.. the minute you shot your bow they would have scattered... (Coyote hunting is my second favorite season next to Deer.. :D )
