Need a shoulder to cry on

Well this bow season has just been plain out rotten. I have never seen a year so dreadfully bad. It seems everything is keeping me from bagging a buck this year or even really seeing any. From the heat, to the rain, to the 45mph winds. The season started out fair and drasticly got worse. For example. Last night I headed out to my stand along the river, wind was calm, slight overcast and cool air. Perfect nite to sit. I get into mystand get all settled in and no more than 20 minutes later I hear the little bastard teenage children across the river yelling and screaming and throwing crap into the river, tearing around on a 4 wheeler just being plain out noisey, one good thing came from the other side of the river when they were playing around in small wood plot, they managed to kick out 3-4 deer, they hit the river and came across to our side. No shot available on any of them. The rain started, although lite, it made it very hard to hear anything except them bratty kids across the river, then the rain stopped, then it started then it stopped, then the wind picked up to about 40-50mph, I bailed out of my stand and called it a night about 45 minutes early, asI was walking out I had to avoid getting hit by large limbs and small trees blowing over....this is the worst season I have ever seen in the 11 years I have been bow hunting. On a plus note,I did count 5 fresh scrapes on my way to my stand yesterday, but Grand-Daddy hasnt made his yet this year in the spot hes made it for the last 6 years. I hope hes still around, and puts that scrape where he always does, 20 yards right out infront of my standI sat in lastnight. Sorry just had to vent.:(

I feel your pain, but at least you've been able to get out hunting. I've only been able to get out a handful of times thus far - with the same conditions you've had.

I know just what you mean but yesterday during a 35mph wind gusting to around 45 I took a nice 7 point and yes I was surprized by it I have always found in the past that they didnt move in that much wind.

I won't argue with that, I just haven't had a whole lotta chances to get out there and try to get one.

Often times just when you feel like giving up is when your luck breaks and you end up with a monster. I'm telling you, luck evens out over time. So the worse it is, the better it will be.

I feel your pain man, this season has been horrible where I'm at in WI. I'm on the river too and unfortunately the crazy teenagers are on my side of the river. Had a nice 8 pointer coming in 10 minutes before the season closes when a kid comes driving down the trail with the windows down and the music cranked. Just enough to booger the deer away. My uncle has taken to cutting firewood recently, came down to hunt and he is cutting away in the middle of the bedding area. Spent Monday night in a tree without seeing a deer for like the 5th straight day so with 5 minutes to go I pack 'er in, figure with the crisp leaves I would have heard anything with in bow range. I'm on the second rung down and there the tall 8buck is standing on the trail that passes 10 yards from my tree, bows in a sling on my back. Five more minutes of faith and it would have been the best year instead of the most awful. Keep the faith man, keep the faith.

Same thing in michigan. The weather if it's not hot as hell than it's pouring rain with 30mph winds constantly. I've been out four times and haven't seen anything. Now the temps are dropping into the 50-60 range and a guy I work with is saying that there starting to move cuz he is seeing more in his stand. Not a great season yet in michigan

I hunt just outside of Outofgame county in southwest Brown county. Must be different country. I have seen deer everytime I've been out. Two doe and one spike in the bag already. Hang in there guys. The temps are suppoesed to get cold this weekend. I'll be on stand, and maybe I'll try to drive some over your way....:) You want to hear ****ty. I had a beautifuleight under my stand on opening day, directly down wind for like five minutes or so, but wouldnt you know it... It's earn a buck this year.
We've got a couple of does on the property that could outsmart any old buck out there. One of these days they will both be shishkabobs!!!! :DShoot up those damn does guys....
