Wind Direction

I've always been kind of confused on this, so I thought I would find out for sure.

In the weather forcast, if the wind is forcast for North at 5 mph, does that mean:

a. That the wind is coming from the north and blowing towards the south at 5 mph.

b. That the wind is coming from the south and blowing towards the north at 5 mph.

dude I've been confused on this myself so many times. According to my buddy (who was also confused on this) when they say a north wind they mean OUT OF THE NORTH.

I'm not being a jerk, with that being said, this is a joke right? If there was any question it would be easy enough to go outside and figure this one out. Granted you know what direction is what.

You couldn't have proved it by me. If wouldn't have asked if I didn't want to know.
