I got one of these for my son about 9 months ago. Upon advice from the pro shop, we got the Easton ST Excel carbon arrow. They have been a very good arrow at not very pricey. $65 per dozen.

I was shooting the xx75's and had a lot of trouble grouping them. Come to find out, several of them were ever so slightly bent. I switched to carbon Easton Gold Tips and love them. They hold up very well and I have been shootingthe same arrows for going on 4 years now with and only now they are showing wear on the fletches. I would agree about going the the shop and seeing what is out there and in your price range. They will set you up right.

RE: Bought my first bow

When I first started years ago, I used aluminum. It was pretty much the only choice at the time. If you get the proper arrow ( talk to a pro shop about size and what not) they shoot just fine.

I Now shoot Easton carbon arrows exclusively. I got away from the aluminums because of the much greater durability of the carbons. I shot Easton ACCs for several years and I really liked them. However now I am shooting Easton Axis STs and I find them to shoot just as well as my ACCs did and they retain a lot more down range energy. Added to that they are substantially cheaper than the ACCs.

There are a lot of choices when it comes to arrows. If at all possible I buy American made products, and I trust Eastons so that's what I shoot.

More important than your choice of arrow though is practice, and LOTS of it.
