RE: ATA show updates?? Tell us please...

They have three new bows The LX, the Black max 2,Conuest3. the LX is like the legacy but 35 ata. The mq32, rival pro,mq1 are gone. Al the idlers and limb pockets and string suppressors will be anodized with a gun smoke color. The LX will be the hot new bow. They have new cams also but no dually.

Newshooter,
What are the specs on these new bows? <img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>

Did I hear right????

On the LX a brace height of 6 5/8 and an IBO speed of 315???? <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

On the surface it would seem disappointing to me but I will have to wait and shoot one before I render any judgement.

The LX will be a hot bow, but I was even more impressed with the new Black Max, a super fast IBO 330+ that shoots with very low recoil and will not slap your wrist. They also introduced a smooth new limb pocket, that locks up tighter than anything else in the industry.

Good Hunting, J-Bird

Is that another notch in my gun stock?

Just curious! What kind of No Wrist Slap technology are we talking about here<img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hmmm , I thought string slap was the result of poor form , especially torque. I have a buddy who shoots the old BM with no complaints. I believe the new Black Max will be the fastest solocam on the market , rumor has it anyway.

Has anyone shot the Black Max through a chrono yet? I was wondering what the true speeds are. Orions Bow, a member on this board, shot the Bowtech Extreme VFT at the show and it came in at 335fps, pretty impressive with a 6 5/8&quot; brace height and also an 80% letoff.

You'll have a tough time convincing me string suppressors have anything to do with reducing wrist slap. If that is what Mathew's is claiming then I can now say, &quot;I have heard it all.&quot;

I just got back today and the bow to watch in 2003 is the AR (archery Reasearch) A pse company. They have 3 models and they are the most smoothest shockfree bow that I have ever shot! Other then that the show wasnt filled with too much new stuff. A camo company that is on the rise is fields edge camo..There sight is www.fields-edge.com

J-Bird,

I'm with ya on the form thing. Heck I shoot the Ultra Max and people complain about it. I just don't agree that a string oscillating backwards and then forwards is the culprit for the pain you feel. Its the initial slap, before the string even make contact with the supressors.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote<font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>TRUE..Wrist slap is caused by poor form but the average shooter will have a problem with a bow with a brace height as short as 5 1/2&quot;. It can also be caused by wrist position on the grip, some one that shoots with a low grip will more likely have a problem than a high wristed shooter. I shot the new Black Max at the ATA show thourgh a crono at 334, and watched the guys from spot hog (shooting machine) fire the bow and it preformed up to its IBO speed rating. <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>

well I am not trying to bust anyones bubble here. Well ok I am but anyway, but here is a qoute from another member that was at the show also
<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>and today I was shooting the bowtech extreame vft and I did shoot it through a chrono. 70lbs, 350 grain arrow, 30 inch draw 335 fps. <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>

As you can see that is 1 fps faster with an inch more brace height. The objective is not to just make them faster. The object is to make the faster and retain shootable charteristics like larger brace heights. I wouldn't shoot a sub 6 1/2 brace height if someone else was paying for it!

and which Bow Company are you an engineer for? Why would they make a claim they couldn't back up? They have everything to lose and nothing to gain. Sometimes the truth hurts and we just have to accept it<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

not to stir up a nut shell <img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle> but why do we need ibo & amo if you are shooting a carbon Bow from HCA <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
375 to 400fps

Why would anybody say something that cant back up? Because they can and still have people that will believe it<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>Doesnt bother my one bit how fast it shoots never.270 is my limit for hunting and I shoot ASA so there goes the 288 speed limit wouldnt do me a bit of good if it shoot 390 fps<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>And it should be they everything to gain

Hawgz:
I read they done that with a 3 grain per pound arrow in another post and it also state that bowtech shot a 3grain per pound arrow with the extreme vft at 427fps!!!!!! It is posted in the tech forum I think.

C4...that bow blew up brother. You can't shoot 3 grains per pound too often and not expect catastrophe eventually.

bigcountry25 & Trushot_archer
It was a 225g arrow 225@417=87KE 225@400=80KE
I shot it for about 15min thusday @400 & on fri it was shooting 417fps & it shot very nice I may add. To the vft I shot that bow at 50#s 294 I believe with a 275g arrow I though it felt like a very good bow & said so. & too the arrow @427fps you say I dont know for sure but I think not .if so great its not fun being alone
Trushot_archer as to [that bow blew up] its still shooting fine
did you see the 8000 + dryfire demo? I dont know about you, but I seen alot of chin's bouncing off the floor

IMO: Usually having the string hitting the arm is caused by having a draw length that is TOO LONG.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> Why would anybody say something that cant back up?<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>

Most of them do it and/or they mark a bow at such and such a draw length and it may actually be an inch longer or.......... The point is they never make a mistake against they're stats because the spreed freaks are impressed with big claims.

RE: ATA show updates?? Tell us please...

I wasn't at the show, so I don't know...but I heard HCA had a demo shooting a very light grain arrow and the bow exploded. Did I hear wrong? Like I said, I wasn't there. Even if it did happen HCA makes a good product, but IMO I wouldn't shoot that light of an Arrow, that many times in front of that many people. Although I admire their cojones!

RE: ATA show updates?? Tell us please...

I was there till 11:30 sunday & seen no problems, the only thing I seen go bad was the string on the demo & the motor running the draw.
the demo was dryfiring. the new bow w/new cams were shooting the light arrows
