Like the saying goes "There are only two people that are willing to die for you...Jesus died to save your soul and the American GI dies for your freedom" Thanks for your service and this article.

Thanks for sharing DT. I think sometimes we take for granted that they are over there fighting for our freedom. I have a niece and nephew heading over to Iraq very soon.

RE: U.S. Navy SEAL earns Medal Of Honor
It is amazing what one human can do. It is a shame he was put in a position where this happened. There are not very many people that can be held in the regards this man will be. I have to point out that this person is of infinite more importance to me than the people making the decisions that put him there. I can place enormous amounts of respect on him, but the strongest feeling i have is one of regret. I have regret for his family and friends, and all of his brothers in arms. As uplifting as it is to hear about these heroic events i can't help but dwell on the negatives that so many will endure as time passes. I really hope that the people we have placed so much faith in are not taking for granted the supreme sacrifice made by so many young men and women.
If solice can be had, it lies in the fact that the entire event was saturated in courage, devotion, respect, and love. These events are proof of the enduring dedication that man can share with one another. |

RE: U.S. Navy SEAL earns Medal Of Honor
Although I have never served in the Armed forces, there is not a day that goes by that we should not thank these brave men and women who are deployed overseas and here at home. Without them we would not enjoy the freedoms we do.
Many thanks to all of them, and prayers as well! |
RE: U.S. Navy SEAL earns Medal Of Honor
Here is something I came upon
Navy Seals are always taught 1 Keep your priorities in order 2 Know when to act without hesitation Here is a story about one A navy seal was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU. One day he shocked the class when he came in lookedto the ceiling and stated God if you are real then I want you to knock me off the platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes. The roomfell silent, you could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes later went by and the professor proclaimed "here I am God I'm still waiting". It got down to the last couple of minutes when the SEAL got out of his chair went up to the professor and cold cocked him, knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold. The SEAL went back to his seat and sat silently. The other students were shocked and stunned and sat there looking in silence. When the professor finally came to he asked theSEAL what the hell was the matter with himand why did he do that. The SEAL reply was this: God was too busy today protecting American soldires who are protecting your rights to say stupid $hit and act likean a$$hole so he sent me. My prayers go out to a fellow sailor and his family |

RE: U.S. Navy SEAL earns Medal Of Honor
Thank you for that post AND your service DropTine249.
We don't hear enough about what our brave men and women are doing every day to help keep this country and this world a better and safer place to live. It makes me sick to think about such courage and sacrifice that goes unreported by the media everyday! And for what??? To try and keep moral and patriotism down so as to advance political gains.....don't get me started![:@] God bless allour fighting men and women....past, present and future, you all are true heroes!! |
RE: U.S. Navy SEAL earns Medal Of Honor

RE: U.S. Navy SEAL earns Medal Of Honor
ORIGINAL: DropTine249 SEALS, why they may not be a Tier 1 Special Operations detatchment as Marine Force Recon is, We were dropped in the Pacific Ocean at 2 am 3 miles offshore with a Mark I, fins and a mask!!! 30 ft straight down out of a chopper, in the dark, prettyFREAKING cold, (70 degrees or so) and told tobe on the beachin 1 1/2 hours... And had to stay with our buddy no matter what! Then when we got there, we assembled a squad and took the boat out for a casual swim in the surf! And that only takes up about 3 hours of our hell week... That was way back in the 70's, the new guys have it easy compared to those days... |
RE: U.S. Navy SEAL earns Medal Of Honor
The only survivor of the team was Marcus Luttrell and he wrote the book "Sole Survivor". The book starts off in his youth and carries through the events that cost his team members their lives. If you want to read about real heroes and their sacrifices I highly recommend this book. My dad shared the book at work and it is still out there being read with many saying it the most moving book they have ever read. God bless our brave soldiers.

RE: U.S. Navy SEAL earns Medal Of Honor
The real sad part about this story is that the network news refused to carry thisgreat story and many others about our brave men. My son is in the Airforce and it makes me soooo mad that the networks refuse to tell the whole storyover there. If somebody hasn't died because of a roadside attack, there isn't any news.

I always thought bombs were cool!
Blowin up c4, 300 yds of det cord, nukes, underwater demo...fun stuff! We used to wrap det cord around telephone poles and snap them like a twig... The good ol' days. Used to have a sticker that read: "I am a bomb technician, if you see me running, try to keep up." |
