RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
im shooting deer do you think they will kill 1

RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
50 lb will kill any deer with a sharp broadhead. If you are worried I would say to use any type of cut on contact head. Or a two blade cut on contact.;)

RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
Im pulling 50 right on the dot and im using 3 blade and they shoot great but their not mechanicals

RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
I don't know why you would pick mechanical broadhead if you are only shooting at 50#. I think they willkill deerbut they won't penatrate and get passthroughs as good as a COC broadhead. A COC broadheads would be better for your set up.

RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
NO!!! Too light a pull for a mechanical. Get over it. Get you a nice sharp fixed head and do it. Even the manufacturers say 55 pounds as a minimum I think. I've always felt 60 was a safe place to start at. Don't even think of mechanicals.

RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
Depends on what kind of kinetic energy you are producing.

RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
Go with the 2 blade.
ORIGINAL: diamond shooter im using rage 3 blade mechanicals |
RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
i have heard of people using the rage broadheads with poundage in the high 40's and having great success with them.

RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
No, you just don't have enough KE. Yes they will kill under ideal conditons, but why take any chances? use a head that will provide you with the best chance for success, and that in my opinion would be a good low profile fixed blade heads.

RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
I wouldnt use mechanicals. Id say minimum of 60lbs should be pulled to shoot them, and even then i still dont trust those things. Shoot a good fixed blade like Muzzy, Slick Trick, or something like a G5 Montec.
|
RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
I would recommend a G5 Montec or an NAP Hellrazor for your setup. As noted before, 50# is awfully light for a big cutting mechanical head.
|
RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
at 50# id prefer to see a smaller fixed blades. Something like them talons or such. Will give you better chance at recovery. Just my .02

Cough Cough..Steel Force Phat Head...Cough Cough

RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
I have to agree with some of the others...Not enough pull wieght behind it to shoot a mechanical, or even a hybrid mechanical (cut on contact front with mechanical behind it). I would get some type of cut on contact - either 85 or 100 grain. 2 or 3 blade would do, and should get you plenty of penetration on the shot even at 50#.

RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
What weight? Depends more on the foc of the arrow if you are asking about arrow flight.
As mentioned, I would not trust a mehanical with a 50lb bow. Ive used mechanicals and had success, but like a good cut on contact fixed head. My trad bows, that I use for big game are well over 50lbs, and I wouldnt think of using a mechanical with them. |
RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
i pull 50# w/ muzzys and they do fine, id get something like that. it makes it alot harder to track deer if u dont get passthroughs, especially if u hit them high. the G5 broadheads look pretty sweet to me.

RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
FOC>>>NOT, depends on KE and with 50 pounds of draw weight you should forget about mechanical heads, that is unless you have about a 36 inch draw length :D. The onlymechanical head I am aware of that would work,at that weight, BUT I am NOT advocating, would be a Rocket steelhead 100, they open up if you stare at them real hard;)What you want is a broadhead that will pass cleanly through a deer's ribcage. Stay away from the mechanical heads, besides with 50 pounds of draw weight, you should not have any planeing issues. And make sure your bow is well tuned. DFA

RE: are these broadheads ok for a 50lb pull bow
I'll jump on the "not enough weight" bandwagon. Definitely go with a fixed blade cut on contact, such as a Montec. My wife shoots Montecs at 53# and very well with them, got a pass through on her last deer at 31 yards. Just not enough KE for a Rage IMO.
