The bucks are still bacheloring together (as evidenced by my game camera this week). According to the wild life biologist for the state (Scott Osborne) November 10th is our "peak". I have always shot my best deer thanksgiving week end though. I see some bucks chasing during Black powder (central season) but it is the smaller bucks and momma wasn't having nothing to do with him yet (around Nov 8th that year). I have seen some scrapes and rubs for the last month. They are getting interested....

last week i was suprised to see a 8pt and a 6pt togerther, but friday i seen a small 8pt by hisself, just a few does near him.

are you talking about jorden lake being bad about the drought or the hunting? i didn't reliaze there was this many central nc people in here

I was talking about the drought. I've been here all my life and it's never been this bad. The entire bank is a beach!!

I live in rowan county but hunt up in davidson, around here its usually around mid november is when it really picks up.

Well I'm not in NC....SC here.

I am VERY VERY confused.

Some say they are ruttin', but I've seen several does in the past two weeks and haven't seen a buck on their trail yet.

They are still freshening up scrapes on a nightly basis so it won't be long, but I don't think they are quite ready where I'm hunting.

I grew up in Yadkin. East Bend to be exact. Hunted all over Yadkin co. Still hunt some in East Bend.

I have seen rubs, butno scrapes yet. IT should kick off the pre-rut this weekend and then about the secnd week of november through the 29th it should be strong and then the post rut kicks in.
