I would hunt that area all day, every chance you get.;)

well i think that it has been said on here before that the diameter of the tree has no direct comparison to the size of the rack. As for hunting it put up a stand close to the bedding area and hunt it at night.

Jim you are incorrect on your assumptions. Again its your 14 year old knowledge coming back to haunt you.
Lets put it this way.. Small bucks generally rub on medium to small trees... Big bucks will rub on BIG trees, but they will also rub on small trees as well.. If you have a huge scrape you can guarantee it didnt come from some scrub 6 point... |

RE: Found some good sign
Well answer me this then...Last night I saw the first scrape that I've found on my property. It's about 5' in diameter and below a pine tree, but I haven't found a single rub yet. Since the only big bucks rub on big trees, do only big bucks make big scrapes? The prints are pretty good size, but haven't seen a single one with dewclaw prints.

RE: Found some good sign
To see if its a buck from prints check the size, if they are about 3 inches wide and about 4 inches long(not including dew claw)then you are dealing with a buck, and a big one at that. Another way you can check if it is a buck by tracks is if you can see a few of his steps in sequence.. if his toes point outwards then it is a buck.. if they point inwards or straight when they walk then it is a doe..

RE: Found some good sign
Does also make scrapes. They are normally larger and more of a community thing, used by all who pass by.
