Microsoft supporting the Anti?

I was recently told by a friend that he had heard that Microsoft recently donated $100,000 to the HSUS and also has them listed as one of 10 Fund raising organization with their new IM program. I tried to find out if this was true by searching On-line, but have not found anything that mentions this. Does anyone know, is this is true? And if it is, I think we as outdoor folks need to let Microsoft know how we feel about their support of an Anti-hunting organization

You can't win them all. Its all about the image they want to support...

Check this link out. Not only are they supporting them, they're rerouting anyone calling to protest to an email where they're simply deleted. Check it out.

I cant believe you could say that ducsauce, this a way of life for MOST everyone on this web site and even though a boycott that we establish would be small its still the point, i know i will not be buyin microsoft software in the future. This is one of the worlds largest corporations that we are talking about, if theres someone that can put us hunters down it them. I encourage everyone to stand up for what they believe in.

Well, I understand what you are saying but do you realize how much we use Microsoft. I mean Windows, internet explorer, various programs, etc. I use Firefox as my web browser but I still use Windows XP. Like I say...can't win 'em all.

They are one of the largest corporations in the world, and in the past have basically been called an monopoly. They have such a strangle hold on the industry, your only chance of getting around them is to use other operating systems like Linux. Or just don't buy computers, or software altogether. You strategize a way to overcome them, and beat them, and I will listen until then, they have won the battle, but not the war. I feel there are bigger fish to fry as of right now, and if we can beat the others, then in time the victory will come!

Apple (Mac) is owned by Microsoft, guys. Making a switch would do nothing. The article is in one of the more recent bowhunting magazines, though I can't remember which one specifically. I want to say Bowhunting World, but again, I'm not sure.

The most we could do is have everyone write Bill Gates (seriously). The article listed his address and urged sportsmen and women to write to him and voice your concerns.

Linux is much easier to use now days and you can always open and use the microsoft office formats with Open Office (which is free). I use Ubunto-Linux most of the time. I do use XP as well but I will never buy any microsoft software ever again. Whats the point when there is open source that works just as well and it is free.

i looked at HSUS website there which was full of about 90% things that i do not agree with

but the 10%i did agree with was they are trying to stop people from paying tes of thousand of dollars to go to a fenced ranch and pick which deer they wont to shoot that ant hunting thats called killing

Its kind of funny because Apple is the company that displays the liberal/tree hugging/anti-hunting theme. Just seems to me like microsoft trying to dip into Apple's market.

I agree that I do not think that if we all swtiched to MAC it would make a difference. But we should at least take a few minutes to let Bill Gates know how we feel about this. Maybe if we all wrote or called and said that if you are going to support an organization like HSUS, you should also provide the same support options to the Safari Club.
I found the article in Bowhutning World ( Thanks to the person who mention that ) and the address is listed as 1 Microsoft way, Redmond WA 98052 and the FAX # is 425-936-7329. Wouldn't it be great it we all took the time to send them a letter. No cussin' or irate issue's, just to let them know that there are a lot of folks out there that don't agree with what they are doing. In the article is listed a similar campaign with Jeep and Iams amoungst them and when thousands of Sportsmen and women levied propest, they pulled there support. It is easy to just say OH Well, but it only takes a few minutes to type up paper and fax or mail it. Who knows we could just make a difference.

A hundred thou from Microsoft. I call that insulting the HS. Like throwing them a quarter, saying here, quit bothering me.

The local HS is getting some crap in the local paper. Seems someone lost a cat 18 months ago. They reported it to the HS and never heard another thing about it. They go down to them 18 months later to get another and there is there cat. It's been there for 17 months. They say that's our cat will take him. The freak zone down there says no way. The reason. The cat didn't seem to warm up to them. The owner clarified the comment. Turns out it was, get this, the second get acquainted visit set up by the HS and the cat had just gotten some shot for a problem with it's eye. It, after being called came right to them.

Here's the rat killer. The cat helped a disabled kid sleep.

This isn't true. Microsoft once owned stock in Apple and a significant chunk for that matter ~ 7-10 years ago. They sold most of their shares off back in 2000 and the shares that they did hold were non-voting shares.

There was a special on A&E Biography a couple of months back that outlined Bill Gates history. Interesting stuff...Bill Gates has been at the right place at the right time throughout his career.

I own a MAC Powerbook Pro and a PC. Although more expensive, the MAC just runs and runs so in my eyes worth it.

In reply to nodog and the local HS. This is where the HSUS get folks, The HSUS has nothing to do with yor local Humane society, They are a completely seperate organization that calls itself the Humane society of the US and does not take in cats and dogs or have them spayed or adopted. They are just like PETA and collect money to go after things like hunting, But by registering their name as the HSUS, folks assume that they are the same organization as their local Humane Society and get folks to give them money under what I consider False pretenses. It shows you how low they will go to get money for their cause.
