AM or PM???

I have always had more success during my AM hunts but it seems that if given a choice most guys would chose a PM sit.
What are your preferences and why? Of course anytime you can be outthere is best...

I prefer morning hunts for some reason. Being out there when the woods come alive isawesome! Now that I think about it though; I've had more success with evening hunting, a lot more.

The chances of me spooking deer in the eveningsare lower than going in before daylight. Either way, I'm happy to just be out there.:)

AM, If you shoot a deer, you have all day to track, gut, and clean your deer. I also just like morning hunts.:)IMO

I have had better luck in the evenings, but i hate tracking in the dark.

Usually prefer the AM as the cold air is always refreshing. If its full moon.... I'm out late morning (11AM) until dark.

I don't know if its true but sometimes it feels like the wind drops down to nothing just before dawn?

It was supposed to be howling out there this AM and raining like no tommorow so I ruled out going out lastnight.Looked out side at 6AM and it was flat calm without so much as drizzle. I should have gone!!!
So much for the detailed forecast.

Yeah Planter, I did the same thing this morning. Took the dogs out and it was really really windy. Took my bow out to the car and then it started raining. Came back inside. By the time it stopped raining it was getting daylight. It is sposed to be better this afternoon. Gonna try then........

The last 5 bucks I'ved shot 3 have been in the evening, 2 have been in the morning. It really depends on which honey hole I hunt to say which time period I prefer.

Personally speaking I like mornings more than evenings because as the light filters in, my anticipation increases but conversely in the evening, as the light fades, so does ones anticipation although there is nothing like the magic hour. ;)

I believe however that the P&Y statistics show that the majority of the entries are evening hunt bucks.

There sure is something about the light starting to filter into the AM woods. Its such a beautiful time as the woods come alive.
I bet none of you have ever stared at a blob shaped just like a big buck for a half hour only to find when the light was good it was just a stump..I swear that stump had been moving to!!!!!

Nope, that is what binoculars are for...to see into the darkness and dismiss those ghost deer. ;)

But I know exactly what your saying....that's why I love binos for bowhunting. :)

Evenings have been better for me but i guess it all depends where your set up in the woods. Between 11 and 1 in the afternoon have been good times for me as well!

Its all location. Sure can't hunt a field edge as well in the AM. the deer are already heading home. I like to try and cut them off at the old pass.

Even mature bucks or nocturnal bucks move in the daytime. They change beds get a drinkor take a wizz. They mosey over to that oak just loaded with sweet nuts. They may not move far but they sure are not anchored to one spot.
