So, last Thursday I climbed into my tripod on the edge of a hill overlooking a river bed. I told myself I would give it till 9 a.m. on the first morning of my hunt. "It" being a buck. You see, I have had few opportunities to take doe but never a chance to take a buck. Well this year I finally scored a GREAT 1500 acre place on the edge of the Texas hill country. So I told myself (only killing one doe in 12 years of bow hunting[:@]) that after 9 a.m., all doe were fair game. Back to the hunt; at 8:55 a.m. I caught6 doe moving out of the corner of my eye. Three of which began to ease my way. They got within 20 yards at 9:03 a.m. (I was keeping a close eye on the clock) She quartered away at 12 yards and the rest is history!


Now onto my best friend Blake. He finally picked up bow about two months ago and I tried to teach him everything I knew. We shot about three days a week for those two months. Well,persistence payed off nicely. We scored this awesome buck at 117 3/4. He spent two days seeing this buck and not being able to get a shot. I am both proud of him and jealous at the same time. Now all I have to do is to talk him into becoming a member of HNI
