Finally got my dad out
I haven't bow hunted with my dad for about4 years. He had a heart attack about 4 years ago while bow hunting and that was the last time he bow hunted. We have done the traditionalWI rifle camp but it was never the same as a afternoon bowhunt. He has gotten a tags all those years but never went out. So yesterday I called him at noonto see ifhe would like to go out when I got done with work. He him hawed around and finally gave in.It was in the 50's and comfortable.
To make a long story short, I think I got my dad back into it. He seems excited and eager. He even got to see a bunch of deer and turkey last night. He isn't use to seeing deer. This was his first time hunting my prop. |
RE: Finally got my dad out
That's awesome! Good luck to you and your Dad and hopefully he sticks with it, but also takes it easy...

RE: Finally got my dad out
awesome. my dad about quit as well. uptill i was 16 we hunted ALL the time. every waking minute we could. he would stay up after working the graveyard shift to go hunting. since i turned 16, i started working, now going to college. our schedules didnt match, i started driving..id go out alone and tag my game when i could. dad has only been deerhunting the first day of the rifle season since i turned 16.
hes pretty busy with 2 jobs and all that...but he was before as well. now that i killed my buck, im going to egg him on to go squirrel hunting with me if we get time(theres that time thing again! we are moving here REALLLLL quick) and i found buck rubs in the backyard of the new house. he said hes hanging a ladder stand back there. i hope he does. i wont touch those woods if he does. i would REALLY like to get him into shooting a bow again. he will come out all the time and watch me shoot..but yearrrrrrs ago he put his bow down and quit shooting and hunting. he says hed like a recurve or a longbow...says "it would be fun to shoot" so maybe...we will see. |
