Im actually looking to buy, but, given my possible move to Las Vegas NV to take a job, Im going to hold off until Im at least there for a year. By that time I should have around 100,000 that I can put down on a property. I only looking to buy 300-500 acres. Id even take 200 if it was perfect. I just want my OWN palce. MY trees, MY food plots or MY feeders, MY stands. Drive where I WANT, when I WANT. And most of all, manage my deer herd to the best of my ability so that my friends and I can not only have a great time hunting, but have a great time hunting big, heavy racked, mature whitetail bucks !!
Next time you're out here, give me a call. I'm looking to sell a farm that I own in IA. They don't come much better than what I own. I'd be glad to show you around the area.

do you realize that unless you live in Iowa you will only draw a buck tag once every 2 or 3 yrs. Non resident landowners have no benefits when it comes to tags in Iowa.

True for bow tags, but gun tags are relatively easy to draw. The late season muzzleloader hunt is a hidden secret as far as I'm concerned. You can bowhunt on the MZ tag. The season is mid Dec - mid Jan. That is a great time to hunt big bucks. I figure I can't hunt the rut in 2 places at one time, so I'll hunt the rut at home and hunt late season in Iowa. Big bucks are almost easier to hunt in the late season than during the rut. They are alot more predicatable, that is for sure.

Good luck on the bid. 156 acres is a fine piece of property for quy tobowhunt.

Look in South Central Iowa for best prices (depressed economy). Find some land where you can have someone else you trust watch it for you (lots of trespassers everywhere). Find land that has tillable land on it too and rent it out to recoup some of your purchase costs. Good luck, Iowa is the place for White Tail.

Other than the website listed above, what other resources are there for researching huntable real estate? I am particularly interested in listings for land in OH.

Droptine, good luck on the bid, that sounds like a great opportunity.

Drop Tine...I hunt in Jackson County. I live in Dubuque county (on the border) and have a 25 minute drive to my hunting spot in Jackson County. There is some dandy bucks that run down there. Of course, the North section of the state doesn't have the reputation that the Southern part of the state does....but when you ask pretty much anyone, they will tell you the whole state in awesome for producing big bucks. I moved from Wisconsin last year...so this is my first year bowhunting Iowa. I've only been out aoncethis year becuase our season opened Ocotber 1st and it has been warm (and an anniversary )....but I have had some nice bucks on film. Last year, I gun hunted Iowa. Didn't have much time to scout between work and moving, but managed to shoot a descent 130" buck in the first 15 minutes of the season.

So if you have a shot to get it at a reasonable price...I would be all over it. It is almost a certain the price won't be lower in 10 years. ;)
